Overview
The Jabsco Par-Max 2 is a freshwater delivery pump for marine water pressure systems, offered here in 12 VDC and 24 VDC configurations. It delivers 2 GPM open flow, equal to 7.6 LPM, with an integrated pressure switch that cuts off at 35 PSI, or 2.4 bar.
This 3 chamber diaphragm pump is suited to smaller onboard freshwater systems where steady sink, galley, head, or cockpit shower supply is needed without fitting a large pump. It is self-priming up to 10 ft, or 3 m, can run dry without damage, and uses an internal bypass to help smooth flow and reduce switch cycling.
The pump has quick connect ports, an enclosed motor in a protective plastic casing, stainless steel fasteners, and an IPX6 rating for protection against heavy splashing and washdown exposure in marine installations.
Key features
- 2 GPM open flow, or 7.6 LPM, for freshwater delivery on smaller boat water pressure systems.
- Integrated pressure switch cuts off at 35 PSI, or 2.4 bar, so the pump starts and stops with normal faucet use.
- Self-priming capability up to 10 ft, or 3 m, gives more flexibility when the pump is mounted away from the tank outlet.
- Internal bypass helps reduce cycling and gives smoother flow at lower demand.
- Run-dry capability helps protect the pump during brief dry-running conditions.
- Quick connect ports work with the included 1/2 in, or 13 mm, straight hose barb fittings.
- IPX6 rating, enclosed motor casing, and stainless steel fasteners suit typical marine freshwater pump locations.
- Thermal motor protection and a noise dampening baseplate support dependable use in confined onboard spaces.
- ISO 8846 ignition protection supports installation in appropriate marine compartments when fitted according to the boat's wiring and safety requirements.
Variants
The Par-Max 2 freshwater delivery pump is offered in two voltage configurations for matching the boat's DC electrical system.
The hydraulic performance, fittings, strainer, pump weight, IPX6 rating, and 35 PSI cut-off remain the same across these two variants. The voltage range, current draw, and recommended fuse size change with the selected DC version.
- 31295-3512-3A, Voltage 12 VDC. This version is for 12 VDC boat electrical systems, with a 9 VDC to 13.6 VDC operating range, 6 amp maximum current draw at pressure, and a 10 amp fuse requirement.
- 31295-3524-3A, Voltage 24 VDC. This version is for 24 VDC boat electrical systems, with an 18 VDC to 27.2 VDC operating range, 3 amp maximum current draw at pressure, and a 5 amp fuse requirement.
Installation and fit
Mount the pump in a dry, serviceable area near the freshwater tank or distribution line, leaving space for the port clips, hose bends, and wiring. The pump body measures approximately 9.1 in long by 4.2 in wide by 4.2 in high, or 231 mm by 108 mm by 106 mm, before allowing for hose routing and access.
The included straight hose barb fittings suit 1/2 in, or 13 mm, hose. The inline 40 mesh strainer should be installed before the pump inlet to help keep debris away from the check valves and pressure switch.
Electrical and system integration
Both versions use 12 in, or 305 mm, 16 AWG leads with stripped wire ends. The pump is for intermittent duty, so it is a good match for normal faucet and small outlet demand rather than long continuous transfer use.
For installation, match the selected voltage to the vessel's DC system, protect the circuit with the correct fuse size, and follow marine wiring practices for conductor routing, overcurrent protection, and accessible service connections.
Materials and care
The wetted path uses polypropylene housings, a Santoprene diaphragm, and EPDM check valves and seals. The fluid temperature range is 32 F to 140 F, or 0 C to 60 C.
This pump is a practical fit for owners replacing a small freshwater pressure pump or building a compact system with one or two outlets. Regular strainer inspection and clean water supply help maintain flow and reduce nuisance cycling over time.
