Overview
The JL Audio 010-13400-00 is a 12-volt power and ground wiring kit for a single marine audio amplifier, sized for installs where the amplifier sits within 12 ft (3.7 m) of the battery and up to 30 A.
It uses 9 AWG tinned, oxygen-free copper conductors with ABYC-standard color coding, so the positive and negative runs stay easy to identify once everything is routed through rigging tubes and consoles. A 30 A MAXI fuse and fuse holder are included to protect the main feed, along with a separate 16 AWG remote turn-on lead for the amp trigger signal.
Key features
- For 12V DC amplifier wiring runs up to 12 ft (3.7 m) from the battery to the amplifier location
- 9 AWG tinned, oxygen-free copper power and ground conductors for corrosion resistance in wet lockers and salt-air environments
- 30 A maximum system rating, with a 30 A MAXI fuse and fuse holder included for primary circuit protection
- ABYC-standard wire colors to keep polarity clear during installation and future troubleshooting
- Includes an 18 ft (5.5 m) 16 AWG remote turn-on wire for typical helm-to-amp routing
- Mix of pre-terminated ring-end leads and unterminated wire length to fit different battery switch layouts and mounting distances
Installation and setup
Route the power and ground runs like any other primary DC feed on a boat: keep them supported, protect them from chafe where they pass through bulkheads, and avoid hot spots such as engine compartments and heater ducts unless the wiring is properly shielded and secured. Leave enough service loop at the amplifier so you can pull it for service without stressing the terminals.
Mount the fuse holder on the positive feed as close to the battery connection point as practical, then finish terminations with marine-grade crimping and sealing practices suited for the bilge and console environment. If the boat is on a 24V system, this kit belongs on a properly protected 12V feed used for the audio system.
Compatibility and fit
This kit matches 12V marine audio installations that stay within the stated distance and current limit. If your amplifier draw is higher than 30 A, or the run to the battery is longer than 12 ft (3.7 m), plan for heavier-gauge conductors and protection sized to the full load and routing distance.
Use cases on board
This is a practical match for center consoles, runabouts, towboats, and pontoons where the amplifier is mounted in a console, helm area, or inboard storage space near the battery compartment. It also suits refits where the existing audio wiring needs to be cleaned up with consistent color coding and proper primary fuse protection.
