Overview
The Lumitec Contour Anchor Light is a white all-round anchor light that runs on 10-30 VDC and is rated for 2 NM visibility.
It mounts on a compact base and folds down with a locking mechanism, so you can stow the light when trailering, covering the boat, or working around the hardtop. The light head is sealed to IP67, the mast diameter is 2.5 in, and typical draw is 80 mA at 12 V or 45 mA at 24 V (about 0.9 W).
Shaft length is measured without the base height (the base adds 1.6 in). For a clean installation, the main decision points are shaft height and finish so the light clears antennas and other top-side hardware without looking out of place.
Key features
- 2 NM rated all-round white anchor light for navigation compliance
- Wide input range: 10-30 VDC for 12 V and 24 V systems
- Low power draw: 80 mA at 12 V, 45 mA at 24 V (about 0.9 W)
- IP67 sealed construction for rain, spray, and washdowns
- Locking fold-down base helps keep the mounting area tidy when the light is stowed
- 2-wire light hookup for standard switched circuits
- Motorized-base versions add a separate motor harness and draw up to 1.3 A at 12 V or 0.8 A at 24 V for mast actuation
Variants
This light is offered in multiple configurations that vary by shaft length (12 in, 20 in, or 39 in) and exterior color (black or white shaft with a white base).
Select configurations are available with a 39 in shaft and a motorized base (black base with black shaft, or white base with white shaft). The motorized versions use an additional set of motor control wires in addition to the 2-wire light lead, and the stated shaft length does not include the base height.
Compatibility and fit
The electrical input range makes it a straightforward fit on most DC systems found on center consoles, express boats, and sailboats. For an all-round anchor light to do its job, it needs a clear 360 degree view. Keep it away from structures that block the arc, and account for antennas, radar, outriggers, rocket launchers, and canvas frames when the light is both extended and folded down.
All-around lights may not be obscured by masts or structures within angular sectors of more than 6 degrees, so placement and height matter as much as the light itself.
Installation and wiring
Mount to a flat, clean surface on a hardtop, arch, cabin top, or aft structure where the post can extend without interference. Drill for the mounting fasteners and the wire exit, then route the two light conductors to a switched, fused DC supply.
For motorized-base versions, plan for two circuits: the 2-wire light lead and the separate motor harness. The motor circuit has higher current draw than the light, so size wiring and protection for the motor load and route control wiring to the switching location you prefer.
Use on board
This is a good match for boats that want an anchor light that stows flat between runs or when the boat is covered at the dock. It also suits topside installations where a fixed pole light tends to snag lines, foul covers, or get bumped during fishing and rigging.
Maintenance and care
Rinse with fresh water after salt exposure. Avoid chemical cleaners and solvents on the plastic components, and use mild soap and water when the light needs a deeper clean.
