Overview
The Lumitec Nevis2 is a two-color engine room and utility light with dimming on both outputs, built for compartments where you need real working light and a lower-output mode for quick checks. It runs on 10 to 30 VDC for 12V and 24V systems, produces 1000 lumens in white, and uses a fully sealed IP67 housing for wet locations.
At full output it is rated at 16W, with current draw around 1.3A on 12V and 600mA on 24V. The white output is 5000 K with CRI 70+, which helps when you are reading labels, spotting leaks, or sorting wiring colors in a mechanical space.
The brushed housing is low profile and surface mounts in tight spots, measuring about 5 in wide, 2.5 in high, and 0.63 in deep. It is ignition protected for use in engine rooms and similar spaces where vapor protection matters.
Key features
- Dual-color output with dimming in both colors (white plus either blue or red, depending on version)
- 10 to 30 VDC input for 12V and 24V DC systems
- 1000 lumens white output, 16W rating
- IP67 sealed housing for damp compartments and washdown-prone areas
- Ignition protected for installation in engine rooms and mechanical spaces
- Low-profile surface-mount footprint (about 5 in x 2.5 in x 0.63 in)
- Works with most PWM LED dimmers and also supports timed-toggle dimming and color change on a standard switched circuit
Variants
The Nevis2 is offered in two dual-color configurations, both with dimming.
The color pairing is what changes between versions. The electrical range, output rating, and physical footprint remain consistent across the line.
- 101147: Light color White/Blue, Dimming. The blue mode is useful when you want a distinct secondary light in a compartment without switching on full white output.
- 101148: Light color White/Red, Dimming. Red light is easier on night vision than white for night runs and dark-adapted checks in an engine room or locker.
Installation and setup
This light mounts to a flat surface using a two-screw pattern and a wire exit path through or along the mounting surface. Plan the wire routing before fastening the unit so the cable lands cleanly at a junction point that stays dry and serviceable.
The housing can become warm during normal operation. Avoid installing it in enclosed spaces that restrict airflow around the fixture, and leave enough clearance so heat can dissipate normally.
Electrical and control
Wire it to a 10 to 30 VDC supply and treat it as polarity sensitive. For a clean marine install, use tinned marine wire sized for the run and protect the circuit with an appropriately sized fuse, especially when multiple lights share the same feed.
On a standard switched circuit, the light ramps up over about 3 seconds at startup. A brief off and on toggle during that ramp sets the dim level, and a subsequent off and on toggle changes to the second color output.
Use cases on board
Nevis2 fits well in engine rooms, lazarettes, machinery spaces, wet lockers, and utility compartments where the light may see vibration and occasional spray. The white mode is suited to maintenance work, while the secondary color gives a lower-impact option for quick checks at night or when you do not want the space fully lit.
This is a good match for boats that need an ignition protected, sealed utility light with a wide-spread footprint for close quarters, especially when you want both a full white work light and a secondary color in the same mounting location.
