Overview
The Blue Sea Systems 8110 is a mini clamp multimeter for checking AC and DC current without opening the circuit, with auto-ranging measurement from 0.01 to 400 A and 0.001 to 600 V. It gives you a fast way to track down charging, inverter, shore power, and DC load issues on board while keeping the conductor intact and your hands off live terminals.
True RMS reading is useful when you are checking inverter output, and the 30 mm clamp opening works for many single-conductor runs found behind panels, near chargers, and around battery banks. A 4300-count display, data hold, resistance and continuity functions, and included test leads make it a useful meter to keep in the boat's electrical kit.
Key features
- Measures AC and DC current through the clamp so you can check load and charging current without disconnecting the wire
- Auto-ranging meter covers 0.01 to 400 A and 0.001 to 600 V for both marine AC and DC troubleshooting
- True RMS readings help when checking inverter-fed AC circuits
- 30 mm clamp opening helps when working around individual conductors in panels and wiring runs
- 4300-count digital display and data hold make readings easier to capture in lockers, engine spaces, and behind panels
- Resistance and continuity functions add fault-finding capability beyond current measurement
- Auto power-off after 10 minutes, low-battery indicator, and included test leads support routine service work
Use on board
This meter is a good match for boat owners, installers, and service techs who work on 12V or 24V DC systems and also need to check AC equipment such as battery chargers, shore power-fed circuits, and inverter output. It is especially helpful when you need a current reading in a tight space and do not want to break a connection just to test one conductor.
Handling and storage
The compact body is easier to use one-handed in console cavities, under berth access panels, and around crowded electrical installations. It operates from 0 to 50 C and below 80% relative humidity with no condensation, so it belongs in a dry tool bag or service locker when the job is done.
