Overview
The MotorGuide 8M4004173 is a Katana 2-blade weedless propeller made for MotorGuide trolling motors that use a 3.5 inch hub. It has a 10.25 inch diameter and is built from engineered polymer for everyday use around cover.
This prop is built to keep moving when you are working through weeds, shallow flats, or current where a standard prop can load up with grass. It is also used as the stock prop on Tour and Tour Pro motors, and it is a common swap when you want the Katana style on another 3.5 inch hub MotorGuide lower unit.
Key features
- Fits MotorGuide trolling motors that take a 3.5 inch hub prop (commonly found on Tour, Tour Pro, and Xi series models).
- 2-blade weedless shape helps shed vegetation and reduces hang-ups around grass and shallow cover.
- 10.25 inch diameter for strong thrust at typical trolling motor speeds.
- Engineered polymer construction that handles everyday bumps and vibration without the corrosion concerns of metal props.
- Up to 30% more battery efficiency compared with previous MotorGuide props.
- Made in the USA.

Compatibility and fit
Fit is determined by the hub size on your trolling motor, not boat length or horsepower. This Katana prop uses the 3.5 inch hub system, so it is a match when your current MotorGuide prop and hardware are the 3.5 inch style. If you are replacing an older prop, confirm the hub size and shaft hardware style before ordering.
Installation and setup
Disconnect power to the trolling motor before working at the prop. Remove the existing nut and hardware, clear any fishing line from the shaft, then install the pin, slide the prop on, and reassemble with the washer and nut from the kit. After installation, spin the prop by hand to confirm it turns freely and does not contact the lower unit.
Maintenance and care
Check the prop area occasionally for wrapped line, especially after fishing grass or brush. Rinse the prop and lower unit after use in dirty or brackish water, and recheck the prop nut tightness as part of routine trolling motor inspections.
