Overview
The MotorGuide MGA089G is a Machete III Tour three-blade trolling motor propeller made from glass-filled material with a 3.5-inch hub size.
It is a practical upgrade when you want a prop that stays consistent under load and keeps its shape through long days of spot-locking, repeated boat positioning, and hard steering corrections. The three-blade, tapered-hub profile is built around speed and efficiency, with a clean, quiet bite that helps the motor feel less strained when wind and current pick up.
Key features
- Three-blade, tapered-hub profile tuned for speed and efficiency on a trolling motor
- Glass-filled construction for higher wear resistance than standard composite props
- Fits MotorGuide lower units that use the standardized 3.5-inch prop hub
- Simple swap for compatible MotorGuide props when you want a tougher material
- Uses a prop pin and prop nut for secure installation
What’s included
- Propeller
- Prop pin
- Prop nut
Compatibility and fit
This prop is for MotorGuide trolling motors with a 3.5-inch prop hub lower unit. Confirm your current prop hub size before ordering, especially if your boat has had a motor swap or a previous prop change. It is intended for trolling motor use, not outboard or sterndrive applications.
Installation and setup
Cut power at the battery or trolling motor plug before working at the lower unit. Remove the existing prop nut and prop, then check for fishing line around the shaft and seals while everything is accessible.
Install the prop pin, slide the prop fully into place, and secure it with the prop nut. Tighten the nut to the torque specified for your motor, then spin the prop by hand to confirm it turns freely without rubbing.
Use on board
This prop is a good match for anglers who run a bow-mount hard in wind or current and want a prop material that lasts through frequent use. It also suits boats that spend time in skinny water, where props see occasional sand and grass contact and a tougher composite can help reduce downtime.
Maintenance and care
After trips, clear weeds and wrapped line immediately so the shaft area stays clean. If you run in brackish or saltwater, rinse the lower unit after use and check the prop nut for tightness as part of your regular pre-launch routine.
