Overview
The MotorGuide 8M0092085 is a Pinpoint GPS gateway kit that connects a Pinpoint GPS equipped MotorGuide Xi5 trolling motor to a compatible Lowrance or Simrad fishfinder/chartplotter through an existing NMEA 2000 network.
The connection is made with a 6 ft (1.8 m) gateway cable, so you can tie the trolling motor system into the boat network and have the display recognize the motor for control functions.
This kit is for boats that already have a powered NMEA 2000 backbone in place, or are being rigged with one as part of the install.
Key features
- Connects Pinpoint GPS equipped MotorGuide Xi5 and other Xi Series motors to compatible Lowrance or Simrad displays through an NMEA 2000 network.
- 6 ft (1.8 m) gateway cable length for clean routing from the bow to an NMEA 2000 backbone connection point.
- Includes an NMEA 2000 T-connector so the gateway can be added as a device drop on the network.
- Supports trolling motor software update workflows through the gateway connection when an update is required for display integration.
What’s included
- Pinpoint GPS to NMEA 2000 gateway cable, 6 ft (1.8 m)
- NMEA 2000 T-connector
Compatibility and fit
This kit is intended for MotorGuide Xi Series trolling motors that are equipped with Pinpoint GPS, paired with a compatible Lowrance or Simrad fishfinder/chartplotter on the same NMEA 2000 network.
For stable operation, the NMEA 2000 backbone needs to be correctly powered and terminated, with an available spot to add the supplied T-connector.
Installation and setup
Installation is typically done by inserting the supplied T-connector into the NMEA 2000 backbone, then plugging the gateway cable into the T and routing it to the trolling motor Pinpoint gateway connection. Plan the cable run so it stays supported, avoids sharp edges, and has a drip loop where it enters compartments.
After network power is on, the display should detect the trolling motor. Some installations may prompt for a trolling motor software update before control pages appear, so allow time at the dock to complete any on-screen prompts without interruptions.
Use cases on board
This is a good match for bass boats, bay boats, and multi-spec rigs where the bow trolling motor and the console electronics share a single NMEA 2000 network. It also fits refits where the goal is to keep all boat control on one screen while still using the existing backbone.
