Overview
The Raymarine A80691 is a CPT-S in-hull CHIRP transducer for depth-only sonar on boats with solid, non-cored fiberglass hulls. It operates in the High CHIRP band from 170 to 230 kHz, centered around 200 kHz, and uses a 25° conical beam for depth readings, bottom detail, and basic fish targeting.
This in-hull style mounts inside the boat, so there is no need to drill a hole through the hull or mount a transducer on the transom. The housing can be cut to suit hull deadrise from 0° to 25°, making it a practical fit for many sailboats, cruising boats, RIBs, trailer boats, and smaller powerboats where a clean outside hull is preferred.
Depth range is up to 600 ft in suitable conditions, with performance depending on hull construction, installation quality, water conditions, and the connected Raymarine display or sonar system.
Key features
- In-hull installation works through solid, non-cored fiberglass hulls without drilling through the bottom of the boat.
- High CHIRP sonar operates from 170 to 230 kHz for depth readings, bottom density checks, and light fishfinding use.
- 25° conical beam gives a useful view below the boat for navigation, anchoring, and general bottom tracking.
- Rated for depth readings up to 600 ft when installed correctly and used in suitable conditions.
- Cut-to-fit tube housing supports hull deadrise from 0° to 25°.
- Urethane transducer construction helps suit the protected in-hull mounting location.
- 6 m cable gives flexibility when routing to compatible Raymarine displays or sonar modules.
- CPT-S technology supports High CHIRP only and does not provide DownVision, SideVision, RealVision, or HyperVision imaging.
Installation and fit
This transducer is made for glue-in installation inside the hull. The mounting area should be solid fiberglass with no core, air gaps, metal, wood, or other materials between the transducer and the water. Placement matters: the best location is usually an area that stays in clean water flow and remains submerged at cruising speed.
The in-hull layout is useful on boats where a through-hull fitting is not wanted and where a transom-mounted transducer would be exposed to trailer bunks, impact, turbulence, or spray. Because the signal passes through the hull, careful test fitting and surface preparation are important before final bonding.
Compatibility and system integration
The CPT-S in-hull transducer connects directly to Raymarine Element S displays and Axiom DV models. Other sonar-equipped Axiom, Axiom Pro, Axiom 2 Pro S, and Element HV systems can use the correct Raymarine transducer adapter cable for CPT-S support.
This is a good match for boaters who mainly need dependable depth information for cruising, sailing, fishing around structure, or checking an anchorage. It is not the right transducer when the system needs photo-like DownVision, HyperVision, or RealVision sonar imaging.
