Overview
The Raymarine M265 is an in-hull CHIRP depth transducer for fiberglass hulls, built for boats that need serious sonar performance without drilling a thru-hull opening below the waterline.
This 1 kW urethane transducer uses 8 internal ceramic elements and supports up to 117 kHz of total CHIRP range, depending on the selected frequency configuration. It installs inside the supplied tank, which is cut to match the boat’s deadrise angle, and it suits hull deadrise angles from 0 to 30 degrees.
The M265 records depth and connects through an 11-pin CHIRP transducer connector for compatible Raymarine sonar systems, making it a strong fit for offshore fishing boats, larger cruisers, and trailered or lifted vessels where an external transducer is not preferred.
Key features
- In-hull installation avoids drilling a transducer hole through the hull below the waterline.
- 1 kW RMS power for CHIRP sonar use on compatible Raymarine fishfinder systems.
- Urethane housing with 8 internal ceramic elements for wide CHIRP frequency coverage.
- Works with fiberglass hulls and supports deadrise angles from 0 to 30 degrees.
- 33 ft. cable length gives flexibility when routing from the installation tank to the sonar module or display.
- 11-pin CHIRP connector mates with compatible Raymarine systems including Axiom Pro RVX, Axiom 2 Pro RVM, RVX-1000, RVM-1600, CP470, CP570, and legacy CHIRP sonar modules.
Variants
The M265 is offered in two frequency configurations. Both are in-hull CHIRP transducers in the same M265 family, with the frequency range selected to match the way the boat is used and the water depths commonly fished.
The low-frequency band appears on both variants. The second band changes between high frequency and medium frequency, which affects how the transducer is matched to shallow-water detail, target separation, and deeper-water searching.
- A80012: Low-High frequency range. This version covers 42-65 kHz on low frequency and 130-210 kHz on high frequency, with a maximum depth rating of 3,000 ft. on low and 1,000 ft. on high.
- A80038: Low-Medium frequency range. This version covers 42-65 kHz on low frequency and 85-135 kHz on medium frequency, with a maximum depth rating of 3,000 ft. on low and 1,500 ft. on medium.
Installation and fit
The M265 mounts inside the hull in a tank rather than outside the boat. The tank is cut to the vessel’s deadrise angle so the transducer can sit correctly oriented for sonar performance while remaining protected inside the hull.
This style of installation is useful on boats that are trailered, lifted, or run in areas where external fittings can be exposed to impact, fouling, or service access issues. It is intended for fiberglass hulls, so hull material should be checked before purchase.
Compatibility and system integration
The 11-pin CHIRP connector is intended for direct connection to compatible Raymarine CHIRP sonar equipment. It is not a general NMEA sensor and should be matched to a supported Raymarine sonar module or multifunction display before installation.
For a clean installation, plan the 33 ft. cable route before bonding the tank in place. Keep the cable protected from sharp bends, engine-room heat, and areas where gear or service work could pull on the connector.
Use cases on board
The M265 suits fishing-focused boats that need CHIRP depth performance for reading bottom, bait, and fish targets without adding a transducer fairing or thru-hull stem outside the hull. The Low-High version is a practical match for crews who value high-frequency detail, while the Low-Medium version adds medium-frequency coverage for deeper target work and structure fishing.
