Overview
The Hella Marine 950987002 is a warm white LED deck floodlight with a white housing, built for exterior mounting on boats and other marine equipment. It runs on 9-33V DC so it fits both 12V and 24V systems, and the sealed IP67 body is suited to washdowns and wet weather.
This style of light is commonly mounted as a deck or spreader light to cover a working area without the harsh look of cool white. Warm white around 2700K keeps glare down when you are docking at night, rigging sails, or moving around the cockpit.
Key features
- Warm white output (2700K) for deck lighting that stays comfortable on the eyes at night.
- Input voltage range of 9-33V DC for 12V and 24V electrical systems.
- Two intensity levels, high (12W) and low (2W), using separate positive feeds.
- IP67 sealed construction for exposed installations on decks, hardtops, arches, and masts.
- Polished 316 stainless steel mounting bracket with adjustable friction mounts for aiming.
- Thermally conductive, non-metal housing with a heavy duty Grilamid lens.
- Pre-wired with tinned marine cable; protect the circuit with a 5A max fuse.
Installation and setup
The bracket supports upright or pendant mounting. Allow room to tilt the lamp and keep the fasteners accessible so you can fine-tune the aim after the first night run. Overall size is approximately 170 mm long by 68 mm high by 58 mm deep, which helps when checking fit on a mast spreader, radar arch, or hardtop.
Swivel resistance is set by the end-cap screws on each side. Tighten both sides evenly so the lamp holds position in vibration without binding.
Electrical and system integration
On white-housing models, the white wire is negative (-). The red wire is the positive feed for high intensity, and the brown wire is the positive feed for low intensity. Switching between modes can be handled with a standard ON/OFF/ON switch.
The LED module is polarity conscious, so reverse polarity will stop it from operating but will not damage it. For a clean, long-term install, solder connections where appropriate and seal splices with heat-shrink.
Use on board
This light makes sense anywhere you want a wide, close-range flood, such as the aft cockpit, swim platform area, side decks, or under a spreader. It is also a practical choice for crews who want a lower setting for dockside checks and a brighter setting when you are actually working on deck.
Materials and corrosion resistance
The non-metal, thermally conductive housing avoids corrosion issues common to metal-bodied lights in saltwater service, and it tolerates long-term UV exposure. The 316 stainless bracket handles exterior mounting, and the Grilamid lens is built to take impact while standing up to UV and common onboard chemicals.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt residue off the lens and bracket during routine washdowns. Periodically check that the bracket screws stay snug and that the cable entry and splices remain sealed, especially on mast and hardtop installs that see constant vibration.
