Overview
The Lumitec 111803 is a GAI2 positionable utility light with a heavy-duty base and warm white dimming in a white housing. It runs on 10-30V DC for 12V and 24V systems, is rated at 6W, and outputs warm white light at 3000K with a 90+ CRI for comfortable, accurate visibility on board.
Because the body is sealed to an IP67 rating and is specified for temperatures from -31F (-35C) to 131F (55C), it fits well in cabins, cockpits, and damp compartments where humidity and occasional spray are part of life. The footprint stays manageable, with a diameter of about 2.53 inches, so it is easier to place on a headliner, bulkhead, or inside a locker without crowding nearby hardware.
This light makes the most sense for boaters who want a focused beam they can aim, then dim down for night use, without giving up the sealing and mounting strength needed for a vibrating, saltwater environment.
Key features
- 10-30V DC input for common 12V and 24V onboard power
- Warm white 3000K output with 90+ CRI for clear chart reading, label work, and night-friendly cabin lighting
- IP67 sealed construction for humid spaces and washdown-prone mounting locations
- Heavy-duty, machined aluminum base for a mount that stays tight on thin liners and high-vibration surfaces
- Timed Toggled Protocol (TTP) support plus third-party dimmer compatibility (3PD) for flexible dimming integration
- Mounting template uses a 0.375 inch (3/8 inch) center wiring hole and two #6 mounting screws
- Color Match Commitment helps multiple fixtures stay visually consistent when installed together
Installation and setup
Pick a mounting spot where the head can swing and hold its aim without hitting trim, cabinet doors, or grab rails. Installation uses a bracket-style mount: the base fastens with two screws and a 3/8 inch center hole for the wiring, then the fixture twists onto the bracket until it snaps into place.
Plan for a clean wire run behind the panel and protect the circuit with a properly sized fuse. The built-in anti-rotation stop lets you aim the light through most of a full turn while helping prevent the power leads from being twisted up over time.
Electrical and dimming control
Wire it like a standard two-wire DC light on a switched positive feed. With TTP dimming, the light ramps up when powered and a quick off-on toggle during the ramp holds the brightness level, which works well at a berth or nav station when you want dimming without adding an external control module.
The unit is also PLI-enabled, allowing compatible digital switching systems to send control commands over the same two power wires. If your boat already has a dimmer module in place, third-party dimmer compatibility can make it easier to tie into an existing dimming circuit.
Use and placement on board
Warm white output works well in sleeping areas and salons where you want light that feels natural at night. In a cockpit, utility bay, or workbench area, the adjustable head helps you put light right on a winch, breaker panel, or project without lighting up the whole space.
When you are installing several lights on the same circuit, consistent color across fixtures helps the interior look uniform rather than patchy from one location to the next.
