Overview

The Attwood Marine LightArmor HPX is a surface-mount LED underwater light range for boats that need bright blue light at the transom, hull side, or other below-waterline locations. These Extreme High Performance underwater lights are built around a low-profile housing, fully sealed electronics, reverse polarity protection, and a heat-sink cooling system with active overheat protection.

The range covers 4 in., 5 in., and 6 in. body lengths with 3, 6, or 12 LED configurations. Verified output ranges from 1350 lumens on the 4 in. model to 5000 lumens on the 6 in. model, with support for both 12V and 24V DC electrical systems. The blue light is suited to wake illumination, dockside lighting, fishing use, and a cleaner underwater look around the stern.

Variants

This LightArmor HPX range is offered in three blue underwater light configurations. The main differences are body length, LED count, light output, and current draw.

All three variants share the same HPX underwater light family, surface-mount format, blue light color, low-profile style, fully sealed electronics, reverse polarity protection, and compatibility with 12V and 24V DC systems.

• 66UW03B-7: 4 in. length with 3 LEDs. This is the smallest option in the range and is a practical fit where mounting space is limited or a lower-output blue underwater accent is enough.
• 66UW06B-7: 5 in. length with 6 LEDs. This mid-size version increases output while keeping the housing compact for many transom and hull-side installations.
• 66UW12B-7: 6 in. length with 12 LEDs. This is the highest-output configuration in the group, rated at 5000 lumens for stronger blue illumination behind or beside the boat.

Installation and setup

These lights are intended for underwater use only and should be mounted below the waterline. The surface-mount design keeps installation more straightforward than through-hull lighting, but the wiring hole, fastener holes, sealant, fuse, and switch still need to be planned carefully before drilling into the hull.

For clean results, confirm the mounting surface is flat, accessible from inside the boat for wiring, and positioned where the beam will not be blocked by trim tabs, drives, ladders, transducers, or trailer bunks. Follow normal marine electrical practice with the correct fuse protection, tinned marine wire, watertight connections, and a suitable switch at the helm or accessory panel.

Electrical and system fit

The range works with both 12V and 24V DC systems, which makes it useful across many center consoles, cruisers, sport fishing boats, and larger recreational vessels. Current draw varies by model, so the selected version should be matched to the available circuit capacity and the planned number of lights on the boat.

The 3 LED model draws 0.64 A at 13.6V and 0.32 A at 24V. The 6 LED model draws 1.30 A at 13.6V and 0.65 A at 24V. The 12 LED model draws 2.59 A at 13.6V and 1.30 A at 24V.

Use on board

This range fits owners who want blue underwater lighting without a large exposed fixture on the hull. It works well for transom lighting, dockside visibility, night fishing atmosphere, and showing wake or prop wash at low speed.

Because the lights are meant to operate underwater, they should not be run out of the water for normal use. Keeping the lens clean and checking the wiring seals during routine maintenance will help preserve light output and reduce avoidable service issues.
