Overview
The Vimar VM14803 is a 3-module surface-mount enclosure in grey with an IP40 rating, made to house Vimar Eikon and Plana series modular devices.
It is a practical choice when you want a clean, modular finish but cannot recess a flush box into the bulkhead or panel. IP40 protection suits sheltered areas on board where it stays dry, such as inside the cabin, in a closed console, or in a protected utility space, rather than exposed decks or places that get regular washdowns.
The enclosure is plastic and uses full insulating materials, which helps when mounting on insulated walls or non-conductive panels and when keeping wiring separated inside a compact surface box.
Key features
- 3-module surface enclosure for Vimar Eikon and Plana series modular devices
- IP40 protection for protected locations on board (no water ingress rating)
- Plastic housing in grey
- With full insulating materials
- Surface-mount format for refits and for panels where a recessed box is not possible
Compatibility and fit
This enclosure follows the Vimar 3-module format and is intended to be finished with the matching 3-module accessories from the Eikon or Plana range you are installing. Confirm the series and module count of your existing plate and mounting hardware so everything lines up cleanly.
Installation and setup
Mount the box to a flat surface and route cabling so conductors are not under tension once the modules are fitted. Allow enough slack to remove the front plate and service the devices later without pulling on terminals.
Use on board
It works well for interior switching points, small control stations, and sheltered helm or nav areas where a surface enclosure keeps the installation tidy without cutting into structure. For cockpits, open flybridges, and other wet zones, use an enclosure with a protection rating intended for direct water exposure.
Maintenance and care
Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid strong solvents that can mark plastic, and periodically check around cable entries for dust or salt buildup if the box is installed in a damp compartment.
