Overview
The Hella Marine EuroLED 75 Dual Colour is a recessed LED downlight that runs on 12V DC (9 to 16V DC) and switches between warm white light (2700K) and red. Output is 190 lumens with a 3W draw, so it works well when you want bright cabin lighting without giving up a low-light red mode for night runs.
This is the spring-clip version for quick recess mounting, and the lamp is fully sealed to an IP 6K7 and IP 6K9K level for wet areas and washdowns. It comes pre-wired with 120mm of tinned marine cable, is dimmable via PWM or voltage-resistive dimmers, and is built to keep electrical noise low around onboard radios.
Key features
- Dual colour output: warm white (2700K) for general lighting and red for preserving night vision
- 12V DC operation (9 to 16V DC) with 3W consumption (under 0.19A at 12V)
- 190 lumen actual output with a diffused lens that spreads light evenly across headliners and panels
- Spring-clip recess mount with a 54mm cut-out for the lamp body
- Rim outside diameter depends on material: 75mm with plastic rim, 72mm with stainless rim
- IP 6K7 and IP 6K9K sealed construction for dust protection, temporary immersion, and high-pressure washdowns
- Dimmable via PWM dimmers or voltage-resistive dimmers
- Pre-wired with 120mm tinned marine cable for clean splices into existing lighting circuits
- Approvals include CE, RCM, EN60945:2002, and UKCA; made in New Zealand with a 5-year warranty
Variants
This downlight is offered with two rim material options, so you can match the trim to the rest of the boat.
The light output, warm white and red colour set, 12V electrical range, and spring-clip mounting style remain the same across the variants. The difference is the rim material and the finished look at the ceiling.
- 015247611: UV-resistant plastic rim. A clean, low-profile look that blends easily with white headliners and interior panels.
- 015247621: 316 stainless steel rim. A metal finish that matches stainless hardware and suits areas that see frequent wipe-downs.
Installation and setup
Plan for a 54mm round cut-out and enough clearance behind the panel for the lamp body and the spring arms to open and clamp. The rim sits on the finished surface, so take the rim diameter into account when spacing multiple lights or aligning to existing holes.
The lamp is sealed for wet locations, but it still pays to mount onto a flat, clean surface so the rim seats evenly and looks finished.
Electrical and dimming
This model is for 12V DC systems and is tolerant of typical onboard voltage swings within its 9 to 16V operating range. With only 3W draw, it is easy to group several lights on a cabin or cockpit lighting circuit without heavy current demand.
Dimming works with PWM dimmers or voltage-resistive dimmers. For dual-colour use, plan your switching so you can select warm white or red as needed without relying on full cabin brightness at night.
Use on board
Warm white works well for cabins, saloons, galleys, and under hardtops when you want light that stays comfortable on the eyes. Red mode is useful for night navigation, fishing prep, or late dockside checks when you want to keep your night vision.
