Overview
The Vimar VM20001.0 is a 1-way (single pole) switch mechanism rated 16 AX, 250 V~ with optional illumination, sized for flush mounting and finished in anthracite (RAL 7024) with a matte surface. It snaps into place as a modular domestic switching device and uses screwed terminals for the wiring connections.
This is the internal switching mechanism that gets completed with a compatible Eikon button in 1-, 2-, or 3-module formats, depending on the look and layout of your switch position. The 16AX rating is intended for switching loads with higher inrush, and the mechanism is specified up to 200 W for self-ballasted lamps.
Key features
- 1-pole, 1-way switch mechanism rated 16 AX, 250 V~ (16 A).
- Optional illumination for control and orientation with an exchangeable LED element.
- Built to complete with 1-, 2-, or 3-module button styles in the Eikon modular system.
- Flush-mounted installation with engage (snap) fastening and no mounting plate.
- Screwed terminal connections for secure conductor clamping in vibrating environments.
- Thermoplastic construction that is halogen-free; IP40 for protected interior locations.
Compatibility and fit
This mechanism is part of the Eikon modular device format (1 module) and is meant to be paired with the appropriate Eikon button and faceplate system used on many yachts and European-style interiors. The device body measures 22.30 mm wide by 49.00 mm high, with an overall depth of 34.60 mm and a built-in depth of 25.00 mm, which helps when checking clearance behind a bulkhead panel or inside a helm console.
Installation and setup
It is intended for flush mounting and uses snap fastening, which is handy when assembling multi-gang stations in a cabin or at the helm. Wiring lands on screwed terminals, so take the time to prep conductors cleanly, keep strands contained, and leave enough service loop to avoid tension on the terminals once the button and plate are fitted.
Because the protection rating is IP40, plan the mounting position for areas kept out of direct spray and washdowns. In spots that see moisture or routine deck cleaning, place it behind a suitable protective panel or enclosure so the mechanism stays dry.
Use on board
This type of 1-way switch is commonly used where you want simple on and off control from a single location, such as switching an interior lighting circuit, controlling a ventilation feed, or operating a relay or contactor coil in an AC panel layout. The optional illumination is useful for finding the switch at night without lighting up the whole cabin.
It is a good match for boat owners and builders who are already using the Eikon modular ecosystem and want a consistent look across cabins, salons, and helm stations while keeping electrical hardware standardized.
Maintenance and care
Periodically check that the faceplate is seated properly and that there is no movement at the switch position from vibration. If the illumination is used, the LED element is exchangeable, which makes it straightforward to refresh the locator light later without replacing the entire mechanism.
