Overview
The B&G 000-15144-001 is a replacement wind vane assembly for WS300 and WS700 series wind sensors. It installs at the masthead on the existing sensor body and gives the sensor the vane it needs to track wind direction again when the original vane is worn, cracked, or missing.
This is a mechanical service part that keeps your current wiring and onboard wind system in place. The assembly includes the mounting nut used to secure the vane on the sensor.
Key features
- Replacement wind vane assembly for B&G WS300 and WS700 series wind sensors
- Restores the physical vane needed for wind direction sensing at the masthead
- Fits onto the existing WS300/WS700 sensor body without changing cabling or network connections
- Includes the mounting nut for vane retention
- Useful when the original vane has become stiff, damaged, or lost after UV and weather exposure
What’s included
- Wind vane assembly
- Mounting nut
Compatibility and fit
Compatible with B&G WS300 and WS700 series wind sensors. Confirm the sensor model at the masthead before ordering, since vane assemblies are not universal across all wind sensor families.
Installation and setup
Replacement is straightforward once you have safe access to the masthead. Remove the existing vane and retaining nut, fit the new vane assembly onto the same location, and secure it with the included nut. After installation, spin the vane by hand to confirm it swings freely and does not rub on the sensor body.
Once back under way, it is worth checking that your displayed wind angle aligns with the bow reference used by your instruments, since any masthead work can shift orientation if the sensor was disturbed during service.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt deposits when practical and inspect the vane during routine rig checks. If you see cracking, excessive play, or sticking movement, servicing the vane helps keep wind direction data consistent for trimming, performance sailing, and autopilot wind modes.
