Overview
The B&G WS300 Cable Series is a mast cable with pre-molded connectors used to link WS310 and WS700 series wired wind sensors to the WS310/700 wired interface. It is offered in 20 m (65 ft) and 35 m (115 ft) lengths to match common mast heights and the real-world routing path from the masthead down to the electronics location.
On a sailboat, this is the run that gets tugged by vibration, worked by mast movement, and asked to survive years of stepping and unstepping. Using the correct length helps keep the cable supported inside the spar and lets you leave sensible service slack at the mast base and at the interface connection.
Key features
- Compatible mast cable for WS310 and WS700 series wired wind sensors
- Pre-molded connectors for a plug-in connection to the sensor system and interface
- Available lengths: 20 m (65 ft) and 35 m (115 ft)
- Built for full mast runs, from masthead sensor routing to the interface location below
Variants
This cable series is offered in multiple configurations to match different mast heights and cable routing paths.
Cable length is the main difference between variants. Confirm the length you need by measuring the mast run, deck transition, and the path to the wired interface, then allow extra for service loops and strain relief.
- 000-14396-001: 20 m (65 ft) cable. This length suits installations where the interface is close to the mast base and the internal mast route is straightforward.
- 000-14397-001: 35 m (115 ft) cable. The extra length helps when the mast is taller or when the route includes longer conduits, detours, or an interface mounted farther from the mast.
Compatibility and fit
This cable is intended for WS310 and WS700 series wired wind sensor setups that use the WS310/700 wired interface. It is not a generic extension cable, so the right match is about the sensor family and the connector style at both ends.
Installation and setup
Plan the run before pulling the cable. Inside the mast, keep it supported and protected from chafe at spreaders, exit points, and any conduit transitions. At the mast base and at the interface end, leave a small service loop and add strain relief so the connectors are not carrying the load.
Where the cable passes through the deck, use a proper gland or deck connector and keep the connection area dry. If the boat is stepped seasonally, label the ends so reconnecting is quick and you do not mix cables during commissioning.
Who this is a good match for
This cable series makes sense for cruising boats and race boats running a wired masthead wind sensor where you want a clean mast pull and a connectorized connection at the interface. It is also the straightforward replacement when an existing mast cable has been damaged during rig work or has developed intermittent data issues from years of movement.
