Overview
The Attwood Marine 1165770 is a bi-color stowaway bow light with a 10 inch angled pole, a 225 degree red and green light pattern, and 1 mile visibility for boats up to 39.4 ft. (12 m). It covers the bow navigation-light requirement while raising the light head above hardware that can block a lower-mounted light.
The angled anodized aluminum pole helps the lens sit above trolling motors, anchors, and other gear on the foredeck. When the light is not needed, the pole lifts out of the base and stows away so the bow stays clear for fishing, anchoring, or covering the boat.
Key features
- 225 degree bi-color red and green navigation light with 1 mile visibility for boats up to 39.4 ft. (12 m)
- 10 inch angled pole helps keep the light visible above trolling motors, anchors, and other bow-mounted gear
- Anodized aluminum pole handles repeated installation and removal without adding unnecessary bulk at the bow
- 2-pin locking-collar connection is intended for use with Attwood LightArmor Plug-In Bases
- Stowaway format lets the pole be removed when the bow needs to stay open and unobstructed
Compatibility and fit
This is a combined bow sidelight for boats that use a red and green bi-color light at the bow, not an all-round stern light. The 2-pin locking-collar setup is intended for Attwood LightArmor Plug-In Bases, so it is worth checking the base style on the boat before ordering.
The 10 inch angled rise makes the most sense on bows where a trolling motor bracket, anchor roller, or other deck hardware can shadow a shorter light. It fits especially well on fishing boats and other smaller vessels under 12 m where the bow area is busy and clear forward visibility matters at night.
Installation and setup
Mount the matching base where the light has an unobstructed forward view, then insert the pole and lock it in place before getting underway. Because the pole removes for storage, it is easier to keep the bow clear when the boat is at the dock, on the trailer, or set up for casting and anchoring.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the pole and contacts after saltwater use, keep the lens clean, and store the light where the lens will not get scratched. A clean lens and dry electrical contact help the red and green sectors stay easy to see and make reinstallation straightforward the next time the light is needed.
