Overview
The i2Systems AP-4W-30K-PW41 is an Apeiron recessed LED downlight with spring clips, warm white 3000K output, and a bezel with a brushed nickel finish.
It runs on 9-30V DC (works on 12V and 24V systems), draws 4.5W, and spreads light with a 120 degree full-angle beam for general lighting in cabins and covered exterior areas.
The fixture is sealed to an IP67 rating for wet locations and washdowns, but it is not meant for submersible use or mounting where standing water can collect around the trim.
Key features
- 4.5W LED downlight with warm white 3000K color.
- 9-30V DC input range for 12V and 24V onboard power.
- Spring clip mounting that installs from the front and holds securely in vibrating panels.
- 2.75 in (70 mm) cutout for the recessed body.
- 120 degree full-angle beam for wide, even coverage.
- IP67 sealed for damp and wet locations (not for submersible mounting).
- 0-100% dimming support using the optional dimming control lead with a compatible dimming system.
- Stainless steel and aluminum construction with active thermal management to protect the LED.
- Built-in electrical protection including reverse polarity, transient protection, and an auto-reset fuse.
Installation and setup
After drilling the 2.75 in (70 mm) cutout, the spring clips compress as the light slides into place, then expand behind the surface to clamp the trim tight. This mounting style works well for refits where you want a clean face and no visible fasteners.
Leave enough clearance behind the mounting surface for the fixture body and springs, and route wiring so it cannot be pinched by the clips. In damp locations, sealing the cutout edge and any nearby junction boxes with electronics-grade RTV silicone helps keep moisture out of wiring spaces.
Electrical and dimming
Connect the supply to the main power leads for normal on/off switching. When dimming is needed, use the dedicated dimming control lead with a compatible dimmer or multiplex-style lighting control.
Lead functions are straightforward: red is positive (9-30V DC), black is common ground, and yellow is the optional dimming control. Keep the supply under 30V DC and pay attention to voltage drop on longer runs, especially on 12V systems.
Use on board
The warm 3000K tone fits cabins, heads, salons, and berths where you want comfortable light at night. The wide beam also works under hardtops, in cockpits, and in covered walkways where you want general illumination without a sharp hotspot.
This light makes sense for boat owners replacing older recessed halogen downlights and wanting a wide beam, warm color, and dimming on either 12V or 24V power.
Maintenance and care
Wipe the trim with mild soap and water and avoid abrasive pads that can mark the brushed finish. If the light is installed in an exposed location, periodically check that the trim is seated evenly and that the seal area stays clean so water cannot creep into the panel cutout.
