Overview
The Blue Sea Systems Dual PowerPost is a two-stud cable connector for creating protected termination points in marine DC power wiring. It is used when heavy-gauge conductors need a secure connection point, including outboard engine harness extensions and other high-current cable runs on boats.
The range is rated for up to 48V DC and mounts with #10 screws or M5 fasteners. Each configuration uses a red and black insulated layout, which helps keep positive and negative conductors separated and easy to identify during installation or service.
Key features
- Two-stud PowerPost layout gives large DC conductors a clear termination point instead of stacking connections in cramped battery or engine spaces.
- 48V DC maximum voltage rating supports common 12V, 24V, 32V, and 48V marine DC systems within the product rating.
- #10 screw or M5 mounting keeps the connector easy to place on a bulkhead, inside a rigging compartment, or near an outboard harness extension point.
- Red and black insulators help separate polarity and reduce the chance of accidental contact around exposed cable lugs.
- Available with 5/16"-18 studs, 3/8"-16 studs, or one of each size for matching different cable lug hardware.
Variants
This Dual PowerPost is offered in multiple stud-size configurations so the connector can match the cable lugs already used in the boat’s DC wiring.
The stud size changes between variants. Across the range, the connector keeps the same two-stud format, 48V DC maximum voltage rating, #10 screw or M5 mounting, and red and black insulated layout.
- 2016: Stud size pair 2 x 5/16"-18. This version suits installations where both cable lugs are sized for 5/16"-18 terminal studs, with a stud torque of 120 in-lb.
- 2017: Stud size pair 2 x 3/8"-16. This version suits installations where both cable lugs are sized for 3/8"-16 terminal studs, with a stud torque of 140 in-lb.
- 2018: Stud size pair 1 x 5/16"-18 plus 1 x 3/8"-16. This mixed-stud version is useful where two conductor ends use different lug sizes, such as some outboard harness extension work.
Installation and fit
Plan the mounting location so the cable lugs can sit flat on the studs without pulling against the conductor or bending sharply at the insulation. The connector should be mounted where the fasteners can be tightened properly and where the insulated posts remain accessible for inspection.
Before ordering, confirm the ring terminal hole size on each cable end. Matching the stud size to the lug is important because oversized holes can reduce contact quality, while undersized lugs will not fit the stud.
Use cases on board
This connector is a practical match for outboard-powered boats, repower projects, and DC wiring upgrades where factory cable length or conductor routing needs a clean termination point. It also works well in battery compartments, rigging areas, and protected electrical spaces where high-current conductors need to be joined or extended without turning the connection into an untidy stack of loose hardware.
