Overview
The Blue Sea Systems PowerPost Plus is a compact cable connector for joining a high-amperage DC cable with multiple smaller wires in places where a standard bus bar may take up too much room. It is a practical fit for battery compartments, distribution areas, electronics panels, and other tight onboard electrical spaces where clean termination matters.
Across the range, the connector uses a 150A DC bus, supports up to 48V DC, and uses a tin-plated copper bus with a reinforced thermoplastic base. The red insulated form helps identify the positive connection point in a marine DC system, while the single-stud layout keeps the installation focused and easy to service.
Key features
- 150A DC bus for connecting smaller wires at a high-amperage cable connection point.
- 48V DC maximum voltage rating for common marine DC electrical systems.
- Tin-plated copper bus helps support low-resistance connections in boat wiring layouts.
- Reinforced thermoplastic base stands up to use in enclosed marine electrical spaces.
- Single-stud design works well where a traditional bus bar would be harder to fit.
- Red housing helps mark the connection as a positive DC distribution point.
- #8-32 mounting screw size supports secure installation on a panel or mounting surface.
Variants
The PowerPost Plus range is offered in three stud configurations so the connector can match the cable lugs and terminal hardware already used in the vessel’s DC system.
The main difference between the variants is the stud size and thread. The 150A DC rating, 48V DC maximum voltage, tin-plated copper bus, reinforced thermoplastic base, red color, and included PowerPost insulator remain consistent across these configurations.
- 2101: 1/4"-20 x 1" stud. This size suits installations using smaller cable lugs while still allowing several smaller conductors to terminate at the same connection point.
- 2102: 5/16"-18 x 3/4" stud. This mid-size stud is useful when the connected cable lug or system hardware calls for a 5/16" terminal connection.
- 2103: 3/8"-16 x 3/4" stud. This larger stud fits installations built around 3/8" cable lugs and heavier terminal hardware.
Installation and fit
Mount the connector where the stud can be reached for inspection, tightening, and future service. It is best used as a compact termination point near batteries, switches, fuse blocks, chargers, or distribution panels where several branch conductors need to meet a larger cable connection without adding a full bus bar.
Match the stud size to the ring terminals already specified for the cable and connected wires. Use proper marine crimp terminals, protect the connection from accidental contact, and follow the torque value for the selected stud size when available for that variant.
Electrical and system integration
This connector is for DC distribution work on boats and is rated for up to 48V DC. It can be used in 12V, 24V, and 48V DC layouts when the current, overcurrent protection, wire size, and installation method are appropriate for the system.
The PowerPost Plus is a good match for boat owners, installers, and refit projects that need a tidy connection point for several smaller conductors in a tight space, especially around battery switching, charging equipment, and accessory distribution.
