Overview
The Garmin 010-11654-03 is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack that replaces the removable pack in compatible Garmin handhelds and VIRB cameras. It is a 3.7 V battery pack in the 2200 mAh class, suited to keeping a handheld GPS or action camera running when you are away from shore power or a 12V/24V charger.
On a boat, this is the kind of spare that lives in the nav bag or a dry box so a handheld still has power for long runs, dinghy trips, or time on deck where a fixed charger is not convenient. It is also a practical replacement when your original pack no longer holds a charge like it used to.
Key features
- Rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack (3.7 V, 2200 mAh class)
- Swaps in as a spare or replacement pack for supported Garmin devices
- Helps keep portable navigation and video gear powered when you are off the dock or away from a charging lead
- No boat wiring required since it installs inside the device as the primary power source
- Works well as a second pack to rotate through charging cycles on multi-day trips
Compatibility and fit
This battery pack is used across several Garmin portable platforms, including Alpha handhelds (such as Alpha 100, Alpha 200/200i, and Alpha 300/300i), Montana handheld GPS units (including the 600/610/650/680 series), Monterra, VIRB, VIRB Elite, and aera 660. Match your device model and the battery part number used by your unit before ordering, since Garmin has multiple battery styles that are not interchangeable.
Installation and setup
Installation is a simple battery swap: power the device down, open the battery compartment, remove the existing pack, and seat the contacts on the new pack the same way as the original. Check that the gasket and compartment area are clean before closing up so the device can keep its seal against spray and washdowns.
Use on board
This pack is a good match for boaters who rely on a handheld GPS as a backup navigator, carry an Alpha handheld on the water, or run a VIRB camera and want predictable runtime without hunting for a charging outlet. Keeping one charged spare on board also helps when the helm is busy and you need a portable device to stay powered for MOB drills, anchoring, or tracking waypoints from the foredeck.
Care and storage
Store the battery in a dry place out of direct heat, and avoid leaving it in a cockpit locker that bakes in the sun. If the device gets splashed with saltwater, wipe the exterior down and keep the battery compartment area clean so the contacts stay free of corrosion and the door closes properly.
