Overview
The Simrad 000-14923-001 is a 5 m (16.5 ft) extension cable for a compatible Simrad VHF fist microphone or handset, adding extra reach between the control at the helm and the radio body. It is commonly used when the VHF is mounted inside a console, electronics box, or under-dash location and you want the mic or handset to land where you can actually grab it underway.
This cable is used with RS40 and RS40-B, V60 and V60-B, and Link-9 fist mics, and it is also used with H100 and HS100 handsets. It simply adds length to the existing connection so you can route the run cleanly through a boat’s wiring paths without relocating the entire radio.
Key features
- 5 m (16.5 ft) extension length for more flexible VHF mic or handset placement
- Used with RS40 and RS40-B, V60 and V60-B, and Link-9 VHF fist mics
- Also used with H100 and HS100 handsets for supported VHF setups
- Helps keep the VHF radio body protected inside a console while the mic or handset stays accessible at the operating position
- Useful for longer helm-to-radio runs on center consoles, pilothouses, and flybridges without stretching or straining the lead
Installation and setup
Plan the route before pulling the cable. Use existing rigging tubes or wire chases where possible, and protect the run anywhere it passes through fiberglass or metal with a grommet or edge protection. Leave a little service loop behind the helm and near the radio so the connectors are not carrying load or getting bent sharply.
For best long-term results on saltwater boats, keep the connection point tucked behind the dash or inside a protected electronics space rather than exposed to direct spray, and secure the cable so it cannot rub against sharp edges or vibrating hardware.
Compatibility and fit
This extension is intended for the Simrad VHF fist mic and handset ecosystem listed above. Match the cable to your specific radio and mic or handset model before ordering, especially if your boat has an older VHF, a different brand, or a mixed installation from previous upgrades.
Use cases on board
This is a good match when you want the VHF mounted out of the way for protection and clean rigging, but still need the mic or handset right at the wheel, throttles, or nav station. It is also helpful on boats where the radio ends up inside a cabin bulkhead or electronics locker and the operator station is several feet away.
Maintenance and care
Periodically check the cable route for chafe and make sure any tie-downs have not tightened into the jacket. If the boat sees washdowns often, inspect the connector area for salt buildup and keep that area clean and dry so the connection stays solid season after season.
