Overview

The Vimar Idea 16445 is a 3-module step marker lamp for the Vimar Idea modular range, with an adjustable beam and space for a 12 or 24 V SELV 3 W 7x31 mm lamp. It is supplied without the lamp, uses flush mounting with snap engagement, and carries an IP40 rating for sheltered interior positions.

On a boat, this fitting works well as low-level courtesy lighting around companionway steps, cabin passageways, berth access, and other inside routes where you want light built into the switch system rather than added as a separate surface fixture. The body is thermoplastic with a matt finish, and the unit measures 74.8 x 50.3 x 51.5 mm.

Variants

This product is offered in two color configurations within the same 3-module step marker format.

The change between variants is the front color. The lamp format, adjustable beam, 12 or 24 V lamp requirement, flush snap mounting, and IP40 protection stay the same across both versions.

• VM16445.B: Color Ivory. This finish blends more easily with cream-toned switch plates and lighter cabin interiors.
• VM16445: Color Gray. This finish sits more naturally with darker panels, gray trim, and modern interior switch surrounds.

Installation and fit

This is a modular insert rather than a stand-alone surface light, so it makes the most sense where the boat already uses Vimar Idea devices or where a refit is being built around that format. The 3-module layout is useful when you want the marker light to sit in line with the rest of the switching gear instead of cutting in a separate courtesy light elsewhere.

Because the lamp itself is not included, check the vessel's lamp voltage and replacement format before ordering. The IP40 housing is better suited to cabins and other protected interior areas than exposed deck positions, cockpit coamings, or places that see regular washdown.

This fitting suits owners, yards, and refit projects that want a neat step or pathway light inside the accommodation areas of a motor yacht or sailboat. The adjustable beam is particularly useful where night visibility matters but a direct bright light would be distracting in sleeping areas or narrow passages.
