Overview
The Garmin 010-13009-02 is a wired temperature sensor for an OnDeck Hub, built to track onboard temperatures from -50°C to 105°C (-58°F to 221°F).
It connects to the hub through the IN/OUT wiring harness and shows up in the ActiveCaptain app once it is set up, so you can keep an eye on a space like the engine room, cabin, electronics locker, or a storage compartment while you are away from the boat.
Key features
- Measures from -50°C to 105°C (-58°F to 221°F) for cold-weather storage and hot machinery spaces
- OnDeck Hub compatibility for remote viewing through the ActiveCaptain app after setup
- Simple two-wire hookup at the hub: one lead to the light green wire on the IN/OUT harness and the other to the black wire
- Mounting ring on the sensor body to fasten it in place and keep it from rattling or chafing
- Works well for monitoring air temperature in spaces where quick changes matter, like engine rooms and cabins
Installation and setup
Plan the sensor location first so it measures what you care about. For engine-room monitoring, mount it where it can read the general air temperature, away from direct contact with hot metal and away from spots that get regularly soaked.
Connect one wire from the sensor to the light green wire on the OnDeck IN/OUT wiring harness, and connect the other wire to the black wire. Make any splices water tight if they could see moisture, and route the cable so it is supported and protected from vibration and sharp edges. If you extend the IN/OUT wiring, use at least 24 AWG wire.
After wiring, add the sensor in the ActiveCaptain app so it shows up with the rest of your OnDeck monitoring.
Compatibility and fit
This sensor is for Garmin OnDeck systems that use the hub IN/OUT wiring harness for wired sensors. It is not a standalone NMEA 2000 temperature sensor, and it does not connect directly to a chartplotter without the OnDeck hub in the middle.
Good match for
Boats that sit on a mooring, at a dock, or in storage where you want a simple temperature check without stepping aboard. It is also a solid add-on for anyone already using OnDeck to keep tabs on onboard systems and wants temperature added to the same view.
