Overview
The Vimar Eikon 20405 is a 1P+N miniature circuit breaker module for 120-230 V~ AC systems at 50-60 Hz, used to protect branch circuits in an Eikon-based panel or switchboard.
It uses a type C trip curve and switches both line and neutral, while protection is applied to one pole. The unit is IP40 rated, takes up 1 modular space, and has a built-in depth of 38 mm for planning enclosure clearance.
On board, this format is typically installed inside a dry AC distribution panel for shore power or inverter-fed circuits, where you want a clean, modular front that matches other Eikon devices.
Key features
- 1P+N configuration that disconnects line and neutral, with 1 protected pole
- Supply voltage 120-230 V~ AC, 50-60 Hz
- Type C release characteristic for typical AC distribution loads
- Rated short-circuit breaking capacity at 230 V: 3 kA for C10 and C16 versions, 1.5 kA for C6 versions
- IP40 protection level for installation inside a protected enclosure
- 1-module width and 38 mm built-in depth for Eikon modular supports and shallow panels
- Current limiting class 1 and overvoltage category III
Variants
This range varies by rated current and by front color to match the rest of your panel. The electrical format stays 1P+N with a type C curve, for 120-230 V~ AC at 50-60 Hz.
Current options in this set are C6 (6 A), C10 (10 A), and C16 (16 A). Colors include Grey, White, and Silver.
Compatibility and fit
These breakers are sized for Vimar Eikon modular plates and supports. For replacements, confirm you have 1 free module and at least 38 mm of depth behind the front panel, plus room for the conductors to bend without being forced.
Because protection is IP40, it belongs behind a breaker panel door or inside a closed electrical cabinet. Avoid mounting where spray, washdowns, or persistent condensation can reach the mechanism.
Installation and wiring
Isolate shore power, generator, and inverter feeds, then verify the circuit is de-energized before working. Terminate line and neutral per the markings on the breaker and keep neutral routing consistent with your vessel’s AC distribution layout.
Match conductor size and upstream protection to the circuit you are protecting and the applicable marine and local electrical requirements. After installation, cycle the handle and test the protected circuit under load to confirm correct operation.
Use cases on board
This breaker format is a practical fit for boats using an Eikon modular panel for AC branch circuits such as receptacles, battery chargers, galley appliances, or control circuits. The 6 A option is commonly used for light-duty circuits, while 10 A and 16 A are more common for general outlets and higher-load branches, within the limits of your wiring and upstream supply.
