Overview
The Garmin 010-02687-00 is a 9-inch keyed-assist touchscreen chartplotter and sonar display with a worldwide basemap, sold without a transducer. It runs on 9 to 18 VDC and is rated IPX7, so it fits well at the helm where it will see spray, vibration, and routine washdowns. The 1024 x 600 display stays readable in sun, and the keyed assist helps when you are operating with wet hands or in rough water.
For charts, it accepts a microSD card (one slot, up to 32 GB) for added cartography and data management. It supports Garmin Navionics+ and Garmin Navionics Vision+ cartography, plus BlueChart g3 and LakeVü g3 map options, so you can match coverage to your home waters and the type of boating you do.
On the sonar side, the unit has built-in CHIRP traditional sonar plus ClearVü and SideVü scanning, and it also supports LiveScope live-scanning sonar when paired with compatible gear. Built-in Wi-Fi supports wireless sharing with another compatible ECHOMAP UHD2 on the boat, and it pairs with the ActiveCaptain app for updates and on-the-water management.
Key features
- 9-inch touchscreen with keyed assist and 1024 x 600 resolution for quick control at the helm
- Worldwide basemap included, with added charts supported via a microSD card slot (one slot, up to 32 GB)
- Multi-band, multi-constellation GPS with a 10 Hz receiver update rate for steady position and tracking
- Built-in sonar: single-channel CHIRP traditional plus ClearVü and SideVü scanning, with 500 W output
- Supports LiveScope live-scanning sonar when paired with compatible equipment
- NMEA 2000 compatibility for connecting into a boat network and sharing supported data and accessories
- Garmin Marine Network port for supported wired networking, plus built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and ANT+
- IPX7 water rating for typical helm exposure and washdowns
Installation and setup
The housing measures 10.4 inches x 6.5 inches x 3.2 inches, which helps when planning space on a console, dash pod, or electronics box. It supports bail or flush mounting, and the included tilt mount with quick-release cradle makes it easy to adjust viewing angle and remove the display when trailering or covering the boat.
Leave room behind the unit for the power lead, network connections, and the transducer cable, and route wiring with a drip loop to keep water from tracking into connectors. If you use a microSD card for cartography or updates, confirm you can access the slot without disassembling the entire dash.
Electrical and network integration
Power input is 9 to 18 VDC, which fits standard 12V systems. Typical current draw is 1.72 A at 12 VDC, with a maximum draw of 3.5 A at 12 VDC, so circuit protection and wire sizing should match the run length and load.
For integration, NMEA 2000 support lets the display share and show compatible network data, and the unit can display AIS and DSC information when fed by compatible electronics. Wi-Fi helps with updates and wireless sharing between compatible ECHOMAP UHD2 units, while Bluetooth and ANT+ support pairing with compatible accessories.
Charting and sonar compatibility
This model is supplied without a transducer, so you can match the transducer to your hull type, mounting location, and target performance. It includes a 12-pin sounder to 8-pin transducer cable for connecting compatible transducers, and the built-in sonar features support traditional CHIRP plus ClearVü and SideVü scanning.
For navigation, the worldwide basemap covers general positioning, and the microSD slot is where you add higher-detail chart products when you want local contours, coastal detail, and the extra mapping features that come with compatible chart cards.
Who this is a good fit for
This is a solid match for boaters who want a single helm display for charting and sonar on a 12V boat, especially on center consoles, bay boats, bass boats, and smaller cruisers where a 9-inch screen is a comfortable size. It also works well for anglers who want SideVü and ClearVü support today with a clear upgrade path to LiveScope later.
