Overview
The Jabsco HotShot HD6 is a heavy duty marine washdown pump range for boats that need strong rinse-down flow from an onboard DC water system. Each version is rated for 6 GPM open flow and 70 PSI pressure switch cut-off, giving enough output for deck washdowns, anchor cleanup, cockpit rinsing, and general exterior cleaning after fishing or cruising.
The pump uses a 5 chamber diaphragm layout with quick connect ports, an integrated pressure switch, a noise dampening baseplate, and thermal motor protection. It is self-priming up to 7 ft dry prime, can run dry without damage, and carries an IPX6 rating for washdown exposure in the marine environment.
Key features
- 6 GPM open flow with a 70 PSI pressure switch cut-off for boat washdown jobs that need reach and pressure at the hose nozzle.
- Available in 12 VDC and 24 VDC versions to match the vessel electrical system.
- Self-priming up to 7 ft dry prime, which helps when the pump is mounted above the water source or tank outlet within the stated limit.
- Integrated pressure switch starts and stops the pump with nozzle demand, so the system works like a practical onboard washdown setup.
- Quick connect ports simplify hose and fitting service compared with fixed plumbing connections.
- Includes a 90 degree quick connect strainer with 40 mesh filtration to help protect the pump from debris.
- IPX6 rated housing, coated motor casing, stainless steel pump head fasteners, and rubber mounting feet suit exposed marine service areas where spray and vibration are part of normal use.
- ISO 8846 ignition protected, with CE and RCM compliance for confidence in marine electrical installations.
Variants
The HotShot HD6 range is offered in three configurations that vary by voltage and hose package. The pump performance rating remains 6 GPM open flow with a 70 PSI pressure switch cut-off across these listed variants.
The 12 VDC versions are for common 12 volt house or accessory systems, while the 24 VDC version suits vessels built around a 24 volt DC supply. The hose option changes only the washdown kit contents, not the basic pump purpose.
- P601J-219N-3A: Voltage 12 VDC, hose not included. This version fits a 12 volt washdown installation where the hose, deck fitting, or existing hose setup is being supplied separately.
- P601J-219N-4A: Voltage 12 VDC, 25' Coil hose included. This kit adds a 25' x 1/2" ID HoseCoil with 3/4" GHT fittings for a more complete 12 volt washdown setup.
- P602J-219N-3A: Voltage 24 VDC, hose not included. This version fits a 24 volt vessel system where the washdown hose and outlet arrangement are already planned or already installed.
Installation and setup
Plan the mounting location with room for the port clips, wire bends, fittings, and hose routing. The pump uses 12" stripped wire leads in 14 AWG, and the supplied quick connect port fittings support 3/4" hosebarb connections plus a 3/4" U.S. garden hose thread adapter.
The inlet side should be protected by the included strainer before water reaches the pump. This matters on boats because washdown systems often pull from areas where sand, scale, weed fragments, or tank debris can reach the plumbing and affect the check valves or pressure switch.
Electrical and system integration
For the 12 VDC variants, the voltage range is 9 to 13.6 VDC, with a maximum current draw of 19 amps at 70 PSI and a 25 amp fuse required. For the 24 VDC variant, the voltage range is 18 to 27.2 VDC, with a maximum current draw of 9 amps at 70 PSI and a 15 amp fuse required.
These pumps are intermittent duty units, so they are a good match for normal washdown cycles rather than continuous transfer use. Use wiring, fuse protection, and switchgear that match the selected voltage and current rating.
Materials and service environment
Wetted components include polypropylene or glass-filled polypropylene housing parts, EPDM check valves and seals, and a Santoprene or TPV diaphragm depending on the specific variant. The lower housing is cast aluminum, the motor casing uses cast aluminum and coated steel, and the baseplate uses rubber feet to help reduce transmitted vibration.
The operating and fluid temperature range is 32°F to 140°F. This makes the pump suitable for typical marine washdown service on deck, in lockers, or in utility areas where spray exposure and boat motion are expected, as long as the installation follows the electrical and plumbing limits for the selected model.
Use cases on board
This range suits boat owners adding or replacing a dedicated washdown pump for rinsing decks, clearing anchor mud, cleaning fish blood from the cockpit, or washing salt and grit from exterior working areas. The 12 VDC versions fit many small and midsize boats, while the 24 VDC version is better aligned with vessels that already run 24 volt DC service circuits.
