Overview
The Garmin 010-11828-11 is a 22-1/2 inch flexible long-range VHF replacement antenna for compatible Garmin Alpha and Astro dog tracking systems, including DC 50, TB 10 and TT 10 dog devices.
It replaces the factory antenna when the original has been bent, chewed, or needs more height for a clearer VHF tracking link while you are running dogs from a boat, the shoreline, or the marsh. This is not a marine VHF radio antenna and it will not connect to a fixed-mount or handheld VHF voice radio.
Key features
- 22-1/2 in (about 57 cm) whip that is flexible, so it can bend when it brushes deck gear, a console lid, or a dog vest.
- Made for the VHF tracking link used by compatible Garmin dog devices and handheld systems, not for marine VHF radio channels.
- Compatible with Alpha, Astro, DC 50 Dog Tracking Collar, PRO Trashbreaker, TB 10 Dog Device (PRO Trashbreaker), and TT 10 Dog Device.
- Direct replacement at the device antenna base with no wiring, no power changes, and no network setup.
- Useful as a spare to keep with your collar kit for trips where antennas tend to get snagged or damaged in transport.
Compatibility and fit
This antenna is intended for Garmin equipment that accepts a removable VHF antenna in the same format as the original. Before ordering, compare the antenna base on your device to confirm it matches the removable style used on the compatible models listed above.
Installation and setup
Power the device off, remove the old antenna, then thread this one on by hand until it is snug. Keep the threads clean and avoid using pliers or over-tightening, which can damage the antenna or the device fitting.
For best results, keep the antenna as upright as practical and avoid folding it tightly under straps or bungees. If it gets salt spray, rinse with fresh water and let it dry before stowing to keep grit out of the connection point.
Use on board
This fits boaters who run hunting dogs from a skiff or chase boat and want the tracking signal to clear rails, cockpit obstructions, and deck clutter. It also suits anyone who stores collars and handhelds in a console where antennas often get bent during transport.
