Overview

The Garmin TOPO U.S. 24K Northeast is a regional topographic map product with 1:24,000-scale detail for Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Wisconsin.

It adds terrain contours, elevation detail, roads, trails, waterways and searchable points of interest to compatible Garmin GPS units, which is useful when your day includes trail navigation, scouting access points, or finding back roads on the way to a ramp or launch.

On compatible devices, it supports turn-by-turn routing on roads and trails and can show 3-D terrain shading for a clearer read of ridgelines, valleys and elevation changes.

TOPO U.S. 24K Northeast is offered in multiple configurations so you can match how you load maps on your Garmin device.

The mapped region stays focused on the Northeast 24K coverage, while the format changes how you receive the maps and how they are used with your hardware.

• 010-C1131-00: Format microSD/SD. Preprogrammed map card that is used directly from the original card in a compatible device. This type of card cannot be copied or backed up for use from another card.
• 010-D1458-00: Format Download. Digital delivery that is installed to a compatible device through Garmin Express. This format is typically managed from a computer during installation and updates.

Compatibility and fit

This is a land topographic map product, not a nautical chart. It does not add marine navigation data such as depth soundings.

Confirm your Garmin unit supports TOPO U.S. 24K mapping and has the right media and storage for your chosen format. For the card version, your device needs a compatible card slot. For the download version, your device needs to connect to Garmin Express for installation.

Installation and setup

microSD/SD card format: power the unit off before inserting the card, then restart and enable the map in your device’s map settings if needed. Keep the card contacts clean and dry, especially if you swap cards dockside or on a wet deck.

Download format: connect the device to your computer and complete installation through Garmin Express. Plan on enough free storage on the device or a supported card, since detailed map regions can take significant space.

Preprogrammed map cards should not be used for saving other map data. Using the card as general storage can risk overwriting preloaded map content.

Use cases on board

This map makes the most sense for boaters who also spend time exploring inland. It helps when you are navigating trails near an anchorage, checking terrain around inland lakes and rivers, or finding trailheads and access points after you come ashore.
