Overview
The Garmin 010-12982-05 is a vehicle power cable that plugs into a 12 V accessory outlet and powers compatible Garmin dezl and RV GPS navigators.
On a boat it works the same way: plug it into a helm or nav-station 12 V socket and route the lead to your navigator so it stays powered during long days underway or while planning at the dock. The cable is 3 feet long, which suits tight dashboards and console installs where you want minimal slack.
This cable is best kept in a protected mounting area. Keep the plug and connector out of direct spray, and avoid routing it where it can chafe on sharp edges or get pinched by a sliding mount.
Key features
- 12 V plug for standard accessory outlets commonly installed at helms and nav stations
- 3 ft cable length for tidy routing on a dash, console, or inside a protected electronics box
- Made for Garmin dezl OTR800, OTR810, OTR1000, and OTR1010 navigators
- Also compatible with Garmin RV 890, RV 895, RV 1090, and RV 1095 navigators
- Powers one compatible device from a single outlet
What's included
- Vehicle power cable
Compatibility and fit
Match your navigator model to the supported dezl OTR and RV units listed above. This cable is not intended for fixed-mount marine chartplotters and it does not connect into NMEA networks.
If your boat has a 24 V house system, use a properly protected 12 V outlet at the mounting location or a regulated step-down supply.
Installation and setup
Plug the adapter into a clean 12 V accessory socket, then route the cable so it does not interfere with steering, throttle, or a gimbal mount. In high-vibration areas, a small strain-relief point helps keep the connector seated and reduces wear on the cable over time.
Use cases on board
This cable makes sense when you use a compatible Garmin dezl or RV navigator as a planning screen at the dock, in the cabin, or on a trailerable boat where the same unit moves between the tow vehicle and the helm. It is also handy as a simple way to keep the navigator powered during long transits when you want the screen on without relying on the internal battery.
