Overview
The Garmin 010-12982-10 is a powered magnetic mount that holds a compatible Garmin navigator and supplies power while it is docked. It’s meant to be used with a compatible suction cup mount for a windshield install or a compatible screw-down mount for a dash install, with those mounting bases sold separately.
This version includes an AUX-out port so you can send navigation prompts to an external audio input, which is handy when you want directions heard over cabin noise. Traffic data is not supported with this accessory. On a boat, it makes the most sense in a protected spot at the helm or inside a pilothouse where the device stays out of direct spray.
Key features
- Powered magnetic cradle keeps the compatible navigator charged while it is mounted.
- Magnetic dock makes it quick to lift the navigator off the mount for stowing or security.
- Works with compatible Garmin suction cup windshield mounts or screw-down dash mounts (mounting bases sold separately).
- AUX-out port supports feeding navigation prompts into an external audio input; traffic data is not supported with this accessory.
- Compatible with dezl OTR1000, dezl OTR1010, dezl OTR800, dezl OTR810, RV 1090, RV 1095, RV 890, RV 895, Vieo RV 1051 Display, and Vieo RV 851 Display.
Compatibility and fit
Match the navigator model to the compatibility list above before ordering. This mount is made for specific dezl and RV devices, and it will not fit units that use a different cradle style. The magnetic mount is the powered interface for the device, while the suction cup or screw-down base is what actually secures everything to the windshield or dashboard.
Installation and setup
For helm use, the screw-down style base is typically the cleanest approach since it gives you a fixed mounting point on the console or dash. Windshield mounting can work well in an enclosed cabin where the glass is clean and the mount stays out of direct sun and washdowns. Make sure the device is fully seated on the magnetic face each time so it charges and doesn’t work loose when the boat is pounding or vibrating.
Because the mount uses magnets, keep it a sensible distance from a magnetic compass and other compass sensors. If you are unsure, do a quick check at the dock with the compass while moving the mount around before you commit to a final location.
Power and cable routing
Plan the wiring so the cable runs stay tidy and protected behind the dash. Use the correct Garmin power lead for your compatible navigator and route the cable so it cannot chafe on sharp fiberglass edges or get pinched by hinges and hatches. A drip loop and a sheltered mounting location help keep moisture from tracking down the cable toward the connector.
Use cases on board
This mount is a good match for boaters who want a navigator that can be removed quickly when leaving the boat, or for crews that move the same compatible unit between a tow vehicle and an enclosed helm. If your mounting spot is exposed to salt spray or washdowns, choose a more protected location or a different mounting approach that matches that environment.
