Overview
The Simrad PRE-90 is a 90 mm (3.6 in) pushrod extension for Simrad Tillerpilot installations where the standard actuator rod does not reach the tiller attachment point.
It fits inline with the pilot pushrod to add extra reach without changing where the pilot pin sits on the tiller. This is useful when cockpit geometry forces the pilot body a bit farther away, such as around coamings, seats, or a hatch lid.
It is commonly used on tiller-steered sailboats running Simrad TP10, TP22, or TP32 systems, where small changes in length help keep the drive line straight through the tiller’s swing.
Key features
- Adds 90 mm (3.6 in) of length to the tiller pilot pushrod for additional reach
- Used with Simrad Tillerpilot models TP10, TP22, and TP32
- Mechanical add-on that does not require wiring changes or network setup
- Helps keep the pilot in a workable mounting position when cockpit hardware or layout limits space
- Can be joined with other Simrad pushrod extensions to create a longer total extension
Compatibility and fit
This part changes the overall pushrod length, not the pilot’s stroke. Before ordering, measure the extra reach you need between the pilot and the tiller drive point and make sure you still have clearance through the full range of tiller travel.
Installation and setup
Install the extension as part of the pushrod assembly so the actuator stays square to the tiller attachment point. After fitting, move the tiller through hard-over positions and confirm nothing binds or contacts the cockpit sole, coaming, or stowage area.
Use cases on board
A good match for cruising boats that rely on a tiller pilot for longer beats and motoring runs, especially when the pilot has to be mounted slightly farther outboard or aft than the standard rod length allows.
Maintenance and care
Rinse off salt after heavy spray and periodically check the joints for looseness as part of routine autopilot inspection. Keeping the linkage clean helps avoid play that can show up as wandering on course.
