Overview
The Raymarine T222 is a wireless vertical wind transmitter for sailboats that need cleaner wind data at the masthead. Its 1.35 m (4 ft 5 in) vertical masthead unit lifts the wind sensor higher into less disturbed airflow, helping reduce masthead turbulence and mainsail upwash when sailing downwind.
This transmitter is built for Raymarine wireless Micronet instrument systems and can also work with wired SeaTalkng instruments when used with the optional MicroTalk Gateway E70361. A carbon fiber extended-height shaft keeps weight down at the masthead, while built-in solar charging helps keep the internal battery ready for use.
For racing boats and performance-focused cruising sailboats, the T222 helps deliver more useful apparent wind speed and direction data, with cleaner input for true wind speed (TWS), true wind angle (TWA), and performance functions on compatible displays.
Key features
- Wireless masthead wind transmitter for Raymarine Micronet compatible instrument systems.
- 1.35 m (4 ft 5 in) vertical masthead unit places the sensor higher in cleaner airflow.
- Extended-height carbon fiber shaft keeps masthead weight low while raising the wind sensor above disturbed air.
- Built-in solar panels help charge the internal battery for wire-free operation.
- Up to 300 hours of autonomy supports extended sailing between charging conditions.
- Helps reduce windflow errors around the masthead and downwind upwash from the mainsail.
- Supports cleaner data for TWS, TWA, and performance sailing calculations on compatible systems.
- Can interface with wired SeaTalkng instruments through an optional MicroTalk Gateway E70361.
- Calibration can be carried out from any compatible Micronet display.
Installation and setup
The T222 is made for masthead installation and can be fitted with the mast in place, which helps avoid the extra work of unstepping the rig. Its wireless Micronet connection also avoids running a wind transducer cable down the mast, a useful advantage on refits, race boats, and boats where adding new mast wiring is difficult.
After mounting, calibration is handled through a compatible Micronet display. This lets the wind transmitter be matched to the boat without adding separate programming hardware at the masthead.
Compatibility and system integration
The T222 fits Raymarine wireless Micronet instrument setups and works with compatible Raymarine wireless displays. For boats with a wired SeaTalkng instrument network, integration is possible by adding the optional MicroTalk Gateway E70361.
This is a strong match for sailors who already use Raymarine wireless instruments and want masthead wind data with less rigging disruption. It also suits racing programs where more consistent wind angle and wind speed input matters for trim, polars, and tactical decisions.
Use cases on board
On a performance keelboat or racing sailboat, the raised sensor position helps keep wind readings away from the worst of the masthead disturbance. That matters most when sailing downwind, trimming to apparent wind, or using instrument data to compare target speeds and angles.
For cruising sailors, the wireless setup keeps installation cleaner and reduces the need for mast cable work. It gives the helm and nav station a more useful wind reference without adding unnecessary complexity aloft.
