Overview
The B&G 000-14389-001 is a WS310 wired interface that links a WS310 wind sensor into a NMEA 2000 network so wind angle and wind speed can be shared with your instruments and MFD. It sits in-line between the mast cable from the sensor and your backbone connection, and is a common replacement part when an existing interface has been damaged during a dismasting, refit, or corrosion-related wiring work.
It is powered from the NMEA 2000 backbone (12 V DC nominal, 9 to 16 V DC) and draws 1 LEN. The housing is rated IPX7 and is sized to tuck away easily in a mast base area or under a deck gland, with overall dimensions of 90 x 20 x 10 mm.
Key features
- Connects a B&G WS310 wired wind sensor to a NMEA 2000 backbone
- NMEA 2000 connection via 1 Micro-C port; network load is 1 LEN
- Powered by the network (12 V DC nominal, 9 to 16 V DC)
- IPX7 waterproof rating for wet lockers and washdown-prone areas
- IEC/EN 60945 compliance for marine electronics environments
- Compact housing (90 x 20 x 10 mm) that fits near the mast base or behind panels
- Compass safe distance: 300 mm
Compatibility and fit
This interface is for the B&G WS310 wired wind sensor system. It connects into a powered NMEA 2000 backbone that uses Micro-C cabling and standard backbone layout with terminators. If your boat has an older wind sensor type or a wireless wind system, this interface is not the matching network adapter.
Installation and setup
Mount the interface below decks where the mast cable terminates, leaving room to secure the cable so vibration and mast movement do not pull on the connectors. Keep connections supported with strain relief and a drip loop, especially if the mast cable passes through a deck gland.
After connecting the sensor side to the WS310 mast cable and the network side to your NMEA 2000 T-connector/backbone, power up the network and confirm wind data appears on your display. If wind data is missing, check backbone power, terminators, and that the interface is on the correct drop to the network.
On-board use
This is a good match for sailboats running a WS310 at the masthead and using a NMEA 2000 instrument network for wind, sailing performance, or autopilot wind functions. It is also a practical spare to carry for offshore or race programs where a fast mast-base swap can get wind data back without replacing the sensor itself.
