Overview
The Raymarine Axiom+ RV is a chartplotter and fishfinder family with built-in RealVision 3D sonar, built-in GPS, and 7-inch, 9-inch, and 12-inch display options for helm stations, cockpits, and fishing consoles. It runs on a 12 V dc supply with an 8 V dc to 16 V dc operating range, uses a 7 A fuse, and carries IPx6 and IPx7 waterproof ratings for exposed marine mounting locations.
Axiom+ RV combines chartplotting, CHIRP sonar, DownVision, SideVision, and RealVision 3D in one multifunction display. The IPS touch screen uses HydroTough oleophobic coating to help shed water, oil, and fingerprints, which matters when the screen is handled with wet hands or used in glare during a long day on the water.
The range is a good match for inshore and coastal fishing boats, center consoles, pilothouse boats, and cruising vessels that need navigation, sonar, and network expansion from a single display platform.
Key features
- Built-in RealVision 3D and 600 W sonar support CHIRP conical sonar, CHIRP DownVision, CHIRP SideVision, and RealVision 3D views.
- Display sizes include 7-inch, 9-inch, and 12-inch models, giving room to match a compact dash, a larger helm panel, or a multi-display layout.
- IPS touch display with HydroTough oleophobic coating helps keep charts and sonar readable when the screen gets wet or marked by fingerprints.
- LightHouse operating system supports LightHouse Charts, Navionics, and C-MAP cartography, depending on the chart package used.
- Built-in GPS/GNSS receiver supports GPS, GLONASS, and Beidou, with a 10 Hz refresh rate for smooth position updates while underway.
- NMEA 2000 connection through DeviceNet on the power cable allows integration with compatible onboard sensor and instrument networks.
- RayNet Ethernet, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, USB Micro B, and one MicroSDXC card slot support expansion, updates, data handling, and accessory connections.
- IPx6 and IPx7 waterproof ratings suit exposed helm and cockpit installations where spray, rain, and washdowns are part of normal use.
Variants
This Axiom+ RV range varies by display size, transducer package, and chart package. The display options are 7-inch, 9-inch, and 12-inch. The transducer package is either no transducer or an RV-100 RealVision 3D transducer bundle. The chart package is either Standard or LightHouse Charts North America.
Across the range, the Axiom+ RV display platform keeps the same core functions: built-in RealVision 3D and 600 W sonar, built-in GPS, LightHouse operation, 12 V dc power, NMEA 2000 connectivity, and the same waterproof rating. The size, supplied transducer, and supplied chart package are the main purchase differences.
Installation and setup
The display can be used as the main navigation and fishfinding screen at the helm or added to a larger Raymarine network. Trunnion mounting works well where the screen needs to sit proud on a dash or electronics box, while surface or flush mounting gives a cleaner panel installation when space and cable routing allow it.
The power and network lead includes a 1.5 m power lead and a 0.5 m NMEA 2000 lead. A 120 mm DeviceNet to SeaTalkng adaptor cable is included, which helps tie the display into Raymarine SeaTalkng installations when the rest of the network is set up for it.
Sonar and fishing use
RealVision 3D sonar gives a three-dimensional view of bottom shape, structure, and the water column. CHIRP conical sonar is useful for target separation and bottom reading, DownVision helps show structure below the boat, and SideVision scans out to the sides for fish, structure, and submerged objects beyond the hull.
Depth capability depends on sonar mode and conditions. CHIRP conical sonar is rated from 0.6 m to 274 m, DownVision from 0.6 m to 183 m, and SideVision and RealVision 3D from 0.6 m to 91 m. Boats already set up with a compatible transducer can use a no-transducer model, while new installations can use an RV-100 bundle when a transom mount RealVision package fits the hull and fishing style.
Display and visibility
The 7-inch model uses 1024 x 600 resolution, the 9-inch model uses 1280 x 720 resolution, and the 12-inch model uses 1280 x 800 resolution. Illumination is 1800 nits on the 7-inch and 12-inch models and 1500 nits on the 9-inch model, helping the screen stay readable in bright cockpit and open-helm conditions.
LightHouse color themes support day and night viewing, which is useful when moving from midday sun to evening runs or early morning departures. The touch interface supports two simultaneous touches, so chart and sonar adjustments feel familiar without crowding the helm with extra controls.
Compatibility and fit
Axiom+ RV is built around a 12 V dc system and is not a 24 V direct-power display. It suits boats with a 12 V electronics bus and should be protected with the specified 7 A fuse. The display has a NMEA 2000 LEN of 1, which is useful when checking network load on an existing backbone.
For layout planning, the trunnion-mounted dimensions are 250.4 mm x 162.5 mm for the 7-inch model, 265.03 mm x 187.81 mm for the 9-inch model, and 314 mm x 217 mm for the 12-inch model, with depth including cables of 218 mm on the 7-inch model and 178 mm on the 9-inch and 12-inch models. Surface or flush mounting uses different cutout space, so the selected size should be checked against the dash before installation.
