Overview
The Hella Marine 8455 is a through-panel mounted stainless steel warning buzzer with a red LED ring for 12V or 24V DC systems. It fits a 19 mm mounting hole, suits panels from 1 mm to 10 mm thick, and produces a sound level above 80 dB at 1 m.
The button and body are 304 stainless steel, with an IP50 protection rating for dust. Plan for about 53.6 mm of depth behind the panel, with an M19x1 threaded body and a front face around 22 mm across.

Variants
This buzzer is offered in two voltage options to match common onboard DC systems.
The mounting format, red LED ring, and physical fit are consistent across the range; the difference is the supply voltage for the buzzer and illumination.
- 958456001: Voltage 12V. This matches 12V DC house and helm systems that are common on many trailer boats, fishing boats, and cruising sailboats.
- 958456101: Voltage 24V. This matches 24V DC systems that are often found on larger yachts and commercial vessels.
Installation and setup
Installation is straightforward for a dash or panel build. Drill a clean 19 mm hole, confirm your panel thickness is within 1 mm to 10 mm, then secure the unit from the back using the M19x1 threaded body and a retaining nut. Before final tightening, check you have enough clearance behind the panel for the 53.6 mm body depth and wiring bend radius.
Electrical and system integration
Wire the buzzer and the LED ring so they behave the way you want on board. Many installs tie the LED ring to panel lighting or ignition power so it shows system status, while the buzzer is triggered by a separate alarm output such as a bilge high-water switch, engine over-temp, or a monitoring relay. Use tinned marine cable, sealed terminals, and a properly sized fuse close to the source. If the circuit you are switching is near the 5A limit, use the buzzer circuit to drive a relay and keep higher current off the panel device.
Compatibility and fit
Confirm your boat runs a 12V or 24V DC system and match that to the correct variant. This unit is sized for a 19 mm panel opening and works with panels up to 10 mm thick, making it a good fit for custom switch panels and alarm panels. With an IP50 rating, it is best placed where it will not take direct spray or washdowns, such as a protected helm pod or inside a cabin control panel.
Use cases on board
This style of buzzer is commonly used for attention-getting alarms where you want both sound and a quick visual cue at the panel. Typical circuits include bilge high-water alerts, engine room warnings, shore power or charger fault indication, and general system alarms on a dash.
Maintenance and care
Wipe the stainless surfaces with fresh water and a soft cloth, then dry, especially after saltwater exposure. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh acids that can dull stainless finishes. Periodically check the retaining nut and terminals for tightness if the panel sees heavy vibration.
