Overview
The Garmin 010-10962-10 is a handlebar mounting kit that lets you secure a compatible Garmin device to a round rail or bar, including common helm grab rails and tubular supports on small boats. The mount uses a 1 inch (25.4 mm) ball joint so you can angle the screen where you can actually read it underway.
This kit is the base hardware only; the device-specific mounting bracket or cradle that holds your unit is sold separately. It is commonly paired with mounts for GPSMAP 276Cx, GPSMAP 66i/66sr/67/67i, Montana 600 Series, Tread, and zumo models including 395LM, 396 LMT-S, 595LM, XT, and XT2.
Key features
- 1 inch (25.4 mm) ball joint interface for flexible positioning with standard 1 inch ball socket arms
- Mounting plate uses an AMPS hole pattern for attaching compatible Garmin cradles and powered mounts
- U-bolt style clamp hardware for round rails and handlebars, with protective rubber caps on the exposed ends
- Alternate base for mounting at a brake or clutch reservoir location when a U-bolt clamp is not practical
- Device cradle or mounting bracket is required and not included with this kit
- Compatible with GPSMAP 276Cx, GPSMAP 66i/66sr/67/67i, Montana 600 Series, Tread, and zumo 395LM/396 LMT-S/595LM/XT/XT2
Installation and setup
On a boat, pick a mounting spot that stays rigid in chop and keeps the screen in your normal sight line without blocking gauges or steering movement. After tightening the clamp hardware, pull on the arm and plate to confirm there is no rotation, then re-check fasteners after the first few hours underway.
If you are using a powered cradle, plan the cable run before final tightening so the lead has slack for steering and trim movement and does not chafe on sharp edges. The mount itself is purely mechanical; any power and data connections depend on the cradle you add.
Compatibility and fit
This kit does not care whether your vessel is 12 V or 24 V. Power, charging, or data wiring comes from the specific cradle or powered mount matched to your Garmin unit.
For rail installs, measure your tube diameter and make sure the U-bolt seats cleanly without forcing it. If the rail is smaller than the clamp profile, use a suitable shim so the clamp tightens evenly and does not mark the rail.
Use on board
This setup makes sense when you want a removable handheld GPS at the helm, a simple navigation screen on a tender, or one Garmin device that moves between the boat and a motorcycle or off-road setup. It is also handy on smaller center consoles where dash space is limited and a rail mount keeps the unit reachable.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the hardware with fresh water after heavy spray or saltwater exposure and check the fasteners periodically for loosening from vibration. If the mount lives in direct sun, inspect the rubber caps and spacers and replace them if they start to crack.
