Overview
The Garmin 010-12953-00 is a motorcycle mount bracket that holds a compatible Garmin zumo XT (5.5-inch) or Garmin Tread 5.5-inch navigator on a bike as the device-side cradle. It is not compatible with the 6-inch zumo XT2.
This bracket attaches to your motorcycle using a separate handlebar mounting kit (sold separately), and it uses an AMPS mounting pattern so it can integrate with many common GPS mount bases.
Key features
- Fits Garmin zumo XT (5.5-inch) and Garmin Tread 5.5-inch models; not for zumo XT2 (6-inch)
- AMPS mounting pattern for pairing with a wide range of mount bases and adapter plates
- Attaches to the bike through a separate handlebar mounting kit (sold separately)
- Hardware to attach the bracket to your compatible device is included
- Built with materials that resist corrosion for outdoor mounting
Compatibility and fit
Confirm your navigator model before ordering, especially if you are upgrading from an older cradle or moving from a different Garmin mount style. If your current setup uses an AMPS base, this bracket is the piece that interfaces with the device while the base handles the bike-side mounting.
Make sure you have enough clearance behind the unit for cable routing and strain relief, particularly if you are also installing a hardwired power lead as part of your overall mount system.
Installation and setup
This bracket is typically installed by first securing an appropriate handlebar mount kit to the bars, then fastening the bracket to that mount using the AMPS pattern. Once the device is seated, check that the latch and contact points are fully engaged and that the assembly cannot rotate under vibration.
After your first ride, recheck fasteners and alignment. On boats or near saltwater, the same habit helps since constant vibration, spray, and UV can work hardware loose over time.
Use cases on board
This bracket is a practical fit for riders who want a second cradle for another motorcycle or need a direct replacement after years of exposure. It can also be useful on a tender or PWC with handlebar-style controls when you already have a compatible base mount, but it still needs a secure mounting point and sensible cable management for wet environments.
Maintenance and care
Rinse off salt and grime after coastal use and let the bracket dry before storage. Periodically inspect mounting hardware, contact surfaces, and any routed wiring for chafe so the navigator stays stable and easy to remove when you need it.
