Overview
The B&G 000-13294-001 is a 4.1" color instrument display for sailboats that want key data in one place on an NMEA 2000 network. The screen resolution is 320 x 240, with a white day mode and selectable night lighting colors (red, green, blue, or white) so it stays readable after dark without blowing out your night vision.
It mounts with a low 8 mm front profile and a compact footprint (118.0 mm x 115.0 mm). Behind the panel it needs about 28.5 mm of depth, with an overall depth of about 36.5 mm, which helps when you are fitting it into a pedestal pod, cockpit bulkhead, or the cabin face panel.
For wet cockpits and regular washdowns it is rated IPx7, and it is built to run in real marine temperature swings (operating -25° to +65°C). Power draw is modest for an always-on instrument: 1.8 W total with a network load of 3 LEN on the NMEA 2000 backbone.
Key features
- 4.1" color display with 320 x 240 resolution for clear, at-a-glance instrument pages
- Selectable illumination: white day mode, and red, green, blue, or white night mode options
- Optically bonded display construction to reduce fogging from condensation in changing weather
- NMEA 2000 network connection with a 3 LEN load for straightforward backbone planning
- Low power consumption (1.8 W total; key backlight off 0.54 W, key backlight max 1.35 W)
- IPx7 waterproof rating with 100% RH humidity tolerance for exposed helm installations
- Compact housing: 118.0 mm x 115.0 mm face size, 8 mm front profile, about 28.5 mm behind-panel depth
Compatibility and fit
This display is meant to live on an NMEA 2000 backbone and show data that already exists on the network. If your boat has NMEA 2000 sources for wind, depth, speed, heading, GPS, or AIS, the display can present that information on dedicated instrument pages without relying on a separate chartplotter screen.
With a 3 LEN network load, it is easy to account for in larger instrument refits where multiple displays are installed at the helm and at the nav station.
Installation and setup
Installation is a straightforward panel mount using the included template and mounting hardware. Plan the location so the bezel and keypad are easy to reach when you are steering or trimming, and so the cable routing can reach a T-connector on the backbone without tight bends or strain on the connector.
Once connected, setup is mainly choosing the pages and the night lighting color that suits your cockpit. If you are adding this to a new network, make sure the backbone is properly terminated and powered before troubleshooting data issues at the display.
NMEA 2000 network and power planning
The unit is powered through the NMEA 2000 connection, so the backbone must have a proper power feed and correct termination at both ends. Keep the network power and drop cabling neat and supported, especially in cockpits where vibration and frequent access can loosen connectors over time.
If you are building a system with multiple displays, sensors, and pilot components, totaling the LEN values up front helps avoid nuisance resets and dimming when loads stack up at night with backlighting on.
Use cases on board
This is a good match for sailors who want a dedicated instrument screen at the helm for wind and performance numbers, while keeping the chartplotter focused on navigation. It also fits well down below as a repeat display so you can monitor heading, speed, depth, and other network data while off watch or planning the next leg.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt spray off the face and bezel with fresh water when you can, and clean with a soft cloth to avoid scratching the display surface. Periodically check the rear connector for a secure fit and address any corrosion early, especially on boats that live in damp lockers or see frequent cockpit washdowns.
