Overview
The Garmin 010-12117-06 is a mast bracket for mounting a gWind family wind transducer at the masthead. It replaces a worn or broken bracket, or it can be used when you are setting up a new rig and want the sensor mounted cleanly and securely.
This bracket is made to fit Garmin gWind, gWind Wireless, and gWind Wireless 2 transducers. It is also used with Garmin wind instrument packs that include these sensors, including GNX Wireless Sail Pack 43, GNX Wireless Sail Pack 52, and GNX Wireless Wind Pack.
Key features
- Fits Garmin gWind, gWind Wireless, and gWind Wireless 2 wind transducers
- Masthead bracket style for a straightforward wind-sensor mounting point
- Black finish that matches common masthead hardware and fittings
- Useful as a replacement mount during re-rigging, mast work, or sensor service
- Bracket only for the mount position; the wind transducer is a separate item
Installation and setup
Mount the bracket where the wind transducer has clear rotation and an unobstructed airflow path, typically on the mast cap or masthead plate. Use fasteners that suit your mast material, seal any new holes appropriately, and isolate dissimilar metals if you are fastening to an aluminum mast to reduce corrosion over time. After stepping the mast, confirm the sensor sits square and has clearance from lights, antennas, and rigging.
Compatibility and fit
This bracket is intended for the gWind family wind transducers and is commonly paired with GNX Wireless wind instrument packs that use those sensors. It is not a universal bracket for other wind sensors, so match it to the gWind, gWind Wireless, or gWind Wireless 2 transducer you are installing.
Maintenance and care
The masthead is a tough environment with constant UV, spray, and vibration. Rinse with fresh water when practical, and check the mount and fasteners during routine rig inspections. This is a good match for sailors replacing a damaged masthead mount or cleaning up an installation while servicing the wind sensor.
