Overview
The Vimar VM16440 is an in-wall emergency lighting fitting that runs on 230 V~ +/-10% (50-60 Hz) and keeps a rechargeable Ni-Cd battery ready for backup lighting.
It mounts into 6 or 7-module flush-mount boxes using the supplied mounting frame and is finished with a 6-module Classica or Rondo cover plate. The unit uses an FD 4 W G5 fluorescent lamp (4300 K, 140 lm) and delivers 26 lm in emergency operation with about 1 hour of autonomy after charging.
This is a good match for vessels with a 230 V AC distribution system where you want a dedicated emergency light for interior walkways, cabins, and other escape routes that need to stay visible during a power loss.

Compatibility and fit
This fitting is meant for flush installation in 6 or 7-module mounting boxes and is finished from the front with a 6-module Classica or Rondo cover plate. Because the visible trim is determined by the plate you pair it with, the final look at the bulkhead matches the rest of your Vimar plate set.
Installation and setup
Plan the location like you would any interior emergency light on a boat: somewhere you can see immediately when moving through the cabin in the dark, and away from direct spray or washdowns. The unit needs a 230 V AC feed so the battery can stay charged; allow a full 24 hours for the first charge before relying on it for autonomy.
Once installed, test the emergency function as part of your regular onboard safety checks and keep access to the cover plate in mind so the lamp and battery can be serviced later.
Maintenance and care
When light output drops or runtime shortens, service is straightforward: replace the FD 4 W G5 lamp and renew the rechargeable Ni-Cd battery as needed. A quick functional test after any service helps confirm charging and emergency operation are both working as expected.
