Overview
The Vimar VM08285 is a 1-pole 10AX, 250 V~ 2-way rocker switch with three terminals, directional arrows, and a central OFF position.
It is the kind of switch you use when you want a clear 1-0-2 action on board: one common feed can be switched to either of two outputs, with a true OFF in the middle. The unit is rated up to 10 A and supports self-ballasted lamps up to 100 W.
This device is IP40 and is meant for dry, protected mounting locations such as a cabin, nav station, or inside an electrical panel area, not exposed to washdowns or spray.
Key features
- 1P 2-way changeover action with a central OFF position and arrow-marked rocker for quick visual confirmation
- Rated 10AX, 250 V~ (10 A) for switching lighting loads with inrush
- Three-terminal layout for one common connection and two switched outputs
- Supports self-ballasted lamps up to 100 W
- Built-in flush mounting with snap fastening
- Halogen-free thermoplastic body with a matt white finish (RAL 9001 similar)
- IP40 ingress protection for interior, sheltered installations
Compatibility and fit
This is an 8000 Series device intended for built-in installation within the matching modular system. Confirm the unit fits your existing 8000 Series frames and cover plates, and check box clearance before committing the cutout.
For tight bulkheads and helm consoles, the device size is a practical checkpoint: 45 mm device height and 43 mm device depth.
Installation and wiring
This switch uses three terminals: one common and two switched terminals. That makes it useful for selecting between two circuits, or for sending a control signal to relays where you want a clear left-off-right style action.
As with any onboard electrical work, isolate the circuit at the breaker, confirm the system is de-energized, and make sure conductor size and protective devices match the load being switched.
Electrical notes for onboard systems
The switch is rated for 250 V~ circuits. If you are using it for low-voltage control functions (such as relay inputs), verify the load characteristics and switching requirements for your specific system.
For locations where humidity or salt air is expected, place it where the front face stays protected, or use an appropriate enclosure strategy around the installation.
Use on board
This switch is a good match for boats that need a straightforward 1-0-2 selection point, such as choosing between two lighting circuits, selecting alternate accessory feeds, or controlling an external device through a relay with a clear OFF position.
Maintenance and inspection
Periodically check terminal tightness during routine electrical inspections, especially on boats that see vibration. Clean the rocker and frame with a lightly damp cloth and avoid solvents that can haze thermoplastics.
