Overview
The Vimar VM08286 is a 2-pole, 1-0-2 rocker switch for circuits up to 10AX at 250 V~. It switches two poles together and gives you three positions: up, center OFF, and down, with directional arrows on the rocker for quick at-a-glance confirmation.
This is a Vimar 8000 Series flush-mounted device meant for panel and bulkhead installations where it stays protected. The front is rated IP40, so it belongs in interior spaces or behind a cover plate away from direct spray and washdowns.
Key features
- 2P 10AX, 250 V~ rating for switching two conductors together
- Three-position 1-0-2 rocker action with a center OFF position and directional arrows
- Six terminals for 2-pole changeover wiring
- IP40 front protection for interior or protected mounting locations
- Halogen-free thermoplastic construction with a matt, untreated surface finish
- White finish close to RAL 9001 to match common Vimar white plates
- Device height 45 mm; device depth 43 mm
- Max 100 W for self-ballasted lamps
Compatibility and fit
This mechanism is part of the Vimar 8000 Series and is intended to be used with matching 8000 Series mounting hardware and cover plates. The white color is close to RAL 9001, which helps keep multi-device panels looking consistent when you are standardizing a cabin, helm, or nav station with the same system.
Plan for the 43 mm device depth plus wiring space behind the panel. It also includes a label space on the front, which is handy when you are identifying circuits on a boat.
Installation and wiring
It mounts as a built-in, snap-in device in the appropriate 8000 Series support. Wiring lands on six terminals, so confirm the circuit layout before you start: this switch is meant to change between two outputs with a center OFF, while switching two poles together.
On boats, keep terminations clean and corrosion-resistant, support the wiring so vibration is not carried by the terminals, and isolate power before working on the circuit. For AC systems and any critical loads, installation and verification should be handled by a qualified marine electrician.
Use on board
This switch is a good match when you need a maintained selector with a clear OFF position, such as changing between two lighting circuits, selecting between two feeds to a control circuit, or separating both poles on an AC branch when the system design calls for it.
Maintenance and care
Wipe the rocker with a lightly damp cloth and avoid harsh solvents that can haze plastics. In marine interiors, it is worth checking terminals periodically for any looseness or signs of corrosion, especially in areas that see humidity or temperature swings.
