Overview
The Vimar VM08264 is a 1-pole, normally open momentary push button rated 10 A at 250 V AC, with a light symbol on the button face for quick identification on a panel.
It is a built-in, flush-style device that snaps into place in the Vimar 8000 Series modular system. The housing is IP40, which means it is protected against solid objects larger than 1 mm but not against water, so it belongs in dry interiors or inside a protected electrical panel rather than in exposed spray zones.
For fit planning behind a bulkhead or console, the device height is 45 mm and the depth is 35 mm.
Key features
- Momentary action with 1P NO contact: closes only while the button is pressed
- Electrical rating: 10 A at 250 V AC
- Light symbol on the button for clear function labeling on multi-switch panels
- Built-in mounting with snap (engage) fastening for quick installation in compatible Vimar 8000 Series supports
- IP40 protection level for interior installations where the assembly is not exposed to washdowns
- Halogen-free thermoplastic body with an untreated matt surface finish
- White color with RAL number (similar) 9001
Compatibility and fit
This push button is part of the Vimar 8000 Series modular device family. It is meant to be used with the matching 8000 Series mounting supports and cover plates, so it is best suited to boats already fitted with that system or refits where the entire switchgear set is being kept consistent.
Confirm you have enough clearance for the 35 mm device depth plus wiring space, especially in thin helm consoles or narrow cabinetry panels where conductor bend radius becomes tight.
Installation and setup
The unit mounts as a built-in device and secures via snap engagement into the compatible support. After it is seated, make electrical terminations per your wiring plan and verify the button returns cleanly after each press.
On a boat, place it in cabin areas, inside a protected helm panel, or within an enclosure that keeps spray and washdowns off the back of the device. If the location can get wet, rely on a sealed panel or enclosure to provide the needed water protection for the overall installation.
Electrical and control use on board
Because it is normally open and momentary, this type of push button is commonly used as a control input for relays, contactors, lighting control modules, or other circuits where a brief press is the intended action.
It is rated 10 A at 250 V AC, so match the connected load, protective device, and wiring method to the circuit you are installing, and keep the switching duty appropriate for a momentary push button.
Maintenance and care
Clean the button face with a lightly damp cloth and mild soap if needed, then dry it. Avoid solvents that can haze or soften thermoplastics, and periodically check terminal tightness and panel security as part of routine electrical inspections.
