Overview

The Vimar Supernova S17 standard 2P+E Italian plug is a portable straight-entry plug for 16 A, 250 V AC circuits that use the Italian S17 format. It uses a 2P+E layout, screwed terminals, and a thermoplastic body, which makes it a practical replacement part when you need to terminate or renew a compatible mains lead on board.

The straight axial cable entry keeps the cable running in line with the plug body, which is useful where a lead needs a clean exit without the added bulk of a right-angle plug. With an IP20 rating, it is meant for dry, protected interior spaces rather than exposed deck areas, damp lockers, or washdown zones.

This plug is a good match for boats that already use Italian standard S17 shore or onboard receptacles in cabins, galleys, or other protected service areas. It is an AC mains component, so it does not belong in 12 V or 24 V DC circuits and it is not part of NMEA or other low-voltage marine networks.

Variants

This product is offered in two color configurations.

The verified difference between variants is the housing color. The electrical format, 16 A and 250 V rating, straight cable entry, screwed terminal connection, thermoplastic construction, and IP20 protection remain the same across both versions.

• VM00202: black housing. It blends more easily with darker interiors, utility spaces, and portable leads where marks from regular handling tend to be less noticeable.
• VM00202.B: white housing. It suits lighter cabin finishes and visible interior outlets where a lighter plug body looks more in keeping with surrounding trim.

Compatibility and fit

This is a cable-end plug, not a fixed outlet. It is intended for equipment or extension leads that need an Italian standard S17 plug with protective earth on a 250 V AC system. Before fitting it, check that the boat or shore supply you are connecting to actually uses the S17 standard and that the lead and connected load are appropriate for a 16 A plug.

On boats, it makes the most sense in protected interior areas where domestic-style AC accessories are used. For exposed locations or circuits that need splash resistance, a higher ingress rating and a connector system intended for wet marine service would be the better fit.

Installation and setup

The screwed terminal layout is straightforward for replacement work and custom lead assembly, provided the conductors are prepared correctly and secured properly during installation. The straight cable exit also helps when the lead needs to run cleanly downward or aft from the socket without turning sharply at the plug body.
