Overview

The Vimar ARKÉ Series MASTER Rotary Dimmer is a flush-mounted dimmer range for onboard AC lighting circuits where you want direct wall control and compatibility with several lamp types. Across the family, the range includes 230 V, 50 Hz versions and a 120 V, 60 Hz version, with support for incandescent lamps, CFL lamps, LED lamps, and compatible electronic transformers.

It uses rotary control with minimum brightness adjustment, screw terminals, and operation from the built-in control or from NO peripheral push buttons. The body measures 22.3 mm wide by 49 mm high, with depth around 60.4 to 61.3 mm depending on the version, and the housing is rated IP40 for use in protected interior spaces.

On a boat, this suits enclosed living areas and other dry control points where dimming helps manage night lighting without adding another control module. It is not the right fit for exposed weather positions or low-voltage 12 V and 24 V lighting circuits.

The main differences across the listed versions are finish and, for the 120 V option, supply voltage, frequency, and incandescent load range. Rotary operation, flush mounting, and screw terminal connection stay consistent across the family.

• VM19136.1: Grey. This is the 230 V, 50 Hz version in a neutral grey finish for vessels and interior spaces wired to that supply.
• VM19136.1.M: Metal. This keeps the 230 V, 50 Hz electrical setup and adds a lacquered matt aluminium-look finish.
• VM19136.1.B: White. This is the 230 V, 50 Hz white version for interiors where a lighter device finish blends into the panel or bulkhead.
• VM19136.120.B: White / Antibacterial. This is the 120 V, 60 Hz version in the range, so it fits installations built around 120 V AC distribution.

Installation and setup

This dimmer is built for flush installation in a protected panel or wall position. Before fitting it, match the chosen variant to the vessel's AC supply, confirm that the connected lamps or transformers are dimmable, and keep the total load within the stated range for that version.

Where one lighting circuit needs control from more than one point, the family supports NO peripheral push-button control and a MASTER arrangement with the matching slave unit in the same voltage family. That is useful in cabins, companionways, and accommodation spaces where lights are operated from two access points.

Compatibility and fit

The range is a good match for interior accommodation lighting, saloon lights, corridor lights, and other protected circuits that benefit from manual dimming. It is less suited to open deck locations, washdown zones, or exposed helm positions because the enclosure is IP40 and intended for protected mounting.

It also makes sense in refit or new-build work where the vessel already uses other Vimar ARKÉ devices and a matching control style matters. Buyers choosing between versions should focus first on supply voltage, then on finish, and then on the load range required by the connected lights.
