Overview
The Vimar Eikon rotary MASTER dimmer is a flush-mounted lighting control device for AC lighting circuits on boats with shore power or inverter-fed interior systems. Across this range, it uses phase-cutting control with a built-in rotary potentiometer, supports dimmable LED loads from 3 to 200 W and CFL loads from 10 to 200 W, and is offered in both 120V 60 Hz and 230V 50 Hz versions.
It works with incandescent lamps, electronic transformers, and dimmable LED and CFL loads, with incandescent capacity up to 500 W on the 120V versions and up to 400 W on the 230V versions. Control can be handled directly from the front turn button or from NO peripheral push buttons, which is useful when the same cabin lighting needs access from more than one switch point.
This is an interior fitting rather than a deck or cockpit control. With an IP40 rating, screw terminals, and flush-mount snap-in installation, it makes sense for cabins, saloons, berth spaces, and other protected areas where the panel stays dry and out of washdowns.
Key features
- Phase-cutting rotary dimmer for incandescent, electronic transformer, CFL, and dimmable LED loads within the stated load ranges
- Available in 120V 60 Hz and 230V 50 Hz versions to match the vessel's AC lighting circuit
- Front rotary control with ON/OFF operation and built-in brightness adjustment
- Supports NO peripheral push buttons for multi-point control of the same lighting circuit
- Minimum brightness setting and locator visibility in darkness for easier night use inside the boat
- Flush-mounted snap-in format with screw terminal connection
- Plastic thermoplastic construction with a matt finish
- IP40 rated and not intended for Isoset enclosures
Variants
This product is offered in multiple configurations to match different AC systems and interior finish preferences.
The range varies by supply voltage and colour. Grey, silver, and white finishes are available, and the electrical version changes between 120V 60 Hz and 230V 50 Hz. The operating style remains a rotary MASTER dimmer with support for NO peripheral push buttons across the range.
- VM20136.120: Grey finish, 120V. This version is for 120V, 60 Hz lighting circuits and keeps the same rotary dimming layout used across the range.
- VM20136.120.N: Silver finish, 120V. It keeps the 120V, 60 Hz electrical setup with a silver face for panels that use a lighter trim.
- VM20136.1: Grey finish, 230V. This version matches 230V, 50 Hz lighting circuits and uses the same phase-cutting rotary control format.
- VM20136.1.N: Silver finish, 230V. It keeps the 230V, 50 Hz electrical setup with a silver finish for a different panel look.
- VM20136.1.B: White finish, 230V. This version uses the 230V, 50 Hz configuration with a white finish that blends into bright interior panels.
Installation and setup
This dimmer is built for flush mounting with snap-in fixing and screw terminal wiring. On board, that usually means installation in an interior switch panel or bulkhead where the AC lighting circuit is already planned for dimming and the enclosure stays protected from direct spray and salt exposure.
Before fitting, the voltage and frequency need to match the selected version, and the connected lamps or drivers need to be dimmable and suitable for phase-cutting control. It is also worth checking the total connected load so the dimmer stays within its stated range for the chosen voltage version.
Compatibility and fit
This range is a good match for boats that use Vimar Eikon modules in the cabin and need a rotary dimmer rather than a simple switch. It suits interior lighting zones such as saloon lights, berth lights, passageway lights, and other accommodation spaces where dimming helps reduce glare at night.
Because the protection level is IP40, this is not the right choice for exposed helm stations, open cockpits, deck lockers, or other areas that see frequent washdowns or persistent moisture. It fits best where the panel is inside the accommodation space and the circuit is part of the boat's AC system rather than a 12V or 24V DC lighting run.
