Overview
The Vimar VM07055 is a 24 V, 3 W incandescent festoon lamp in the 7 mm by 31 mm format for small onboard illumination points and indicator modules that use this lamp size.
It produces white light and fits holders that accept a 31 mm festoon with a lamp body around 8 mm by 15 mm, which matters when the lamp sits behind a tight lens or switch window. This is a straightforward replacement part for keeping compatible controls and small fixtures readable on 24 V DC systems.
Key features
- 24 V, 3 W incandescent lamp for 24 V DC circuits
- Festoon size: 7 mm diameter and 31 mm length
- Lamp body section around 8 mm by 15 mm for clearance behind lenses and caps
- White light output for indicator windows and small task points
- Incandescent lamp works on DC without polarity sensitivity
Compatibility and fit
Match the lamp type and size to what is already installed. Festoon holders vary by length, and a few millimeters can decide whether the end contacts seat properly and whether the cover closes without pressure on the glass.
Confirm the holder supports the 31 mm festoon length and that the lamp body clears any diffuser, lens, or switch window. If the old lamp shows heat marks on the lens, check there is enough clearance and ventilation before fitting the new one.
Electrical and system integration
This lamp is for nominal 24 V systems. On 12 V it will glow weakly; on higher voltage it will have a short life and can overheat the fixture.
At 24 V and 3 W, current draw is about 0.13 A. Make sure the circuit and contacts are clean and snug so vibration does not cause flicker.
Installation and setup
Turn off power at the panel and let the fixture cool before handling the lamp. Remove the cover or module window as required, then lift the festoon out of its spring contacts and seat the new lamp evenly so both ends are fully engaged.
After reinstalling the lens or cover, power the circuit back up and check for steady light. If it flickers underway, the holder contacts usually need cleaning or a slight re-tensioning.
Use on board
This lamp makes sense on boats and yachts that run 24 V DC and use small indicator lights in switch panels, control stations, or compact interior fixtures where the 7 x 31 mm festoon format is used. It is also a good match when you want the same look and output as the original incandescent lamp rather than switching the fixture to LED.
Maintenance and care
Salt air and humidity can leave a film on contacts over time. If a lamp change does not restore steady operation, clean the end contacts and the holder springs, and inspect for heat-darkened lenses that can reduce visibility.
Keeping a spare on board helps for panel indicators and small utility lights, especially on offshore runs where a quick swap is easier than troubleshooting a dim or intermittent lamp at night.
